This is a long one,
Back in early april my splay bunny had her left front leg swell up. It went a purple red color. Took her to the vet,we both thought it could be broken did xrays and it wasnt. So the vet did a tap of the leg and it was cellulitis. We treated it for a week with no improvement. He then decided to lance it. That turned into her entire arm being cut wide open, mounds of necrotic tisse and pus was removed and 15 staples were placed. It has been a battle getting this to heal and almost 3 months later its almost there. My concern is her legs fully bend backwards inbetween her rear legs. She is now getting abrasions on her already injured leg from the nails on her back feet. I am attaching a photo i took today before i wrapped her leg.
What i am wondering is,other than constantly keeping her legs wrapped(front) what more can i do? I can imagine having wrapped legs being annoying. But I cant keep having her injuring that leg. I thought if using soft paws on her rear nails only but my fear is she can eat them. Any ideas? also attaching a photo of how it looked maybe 3 weeks ago.

Ouch poor bunny! I don't have any advice bur just wanted to say I'm glad it's getting better! ❤️

What about trying some baby socks or small dog booties? The main thing if using them, is however they're secured to the leg, it can't be overly constrictive that it reduces circulation in the feet.

i did think of little socks, but her nails put a lot of pressure on her legs. Its so bad sometimes that she cant even get upright. I thought of wrapping the back feet as shes also prone to sore hocks,i would just wrap further down her leg to the nails. But this is her only way to grip the ground beneath her,and I dont want to take that from her. As shes aged her splay has gotten significantly worse, she is 5.5 turns 6 in october. She does very well otherwise. I just want to protect her from further injury.
