well, im not compleatly sure.

alex will lay his head on the ground under Ryo. and if Ryo doesnt groom him he will bite.

and sometimes he will be minding his ownand Ryo wil run up to him and pull some hair.

other times Alex runs after her and nips her. Ryo will just hop off and ignore him.
