Hi all,

I have had a few compliments on my bunny photographs, so I just thought I'd let everyone know how I get my bunny photos, as it's really very easy, and you don't need much to do it.

The background is vital, cluttered backgrounds with odd bits and bobs of things are distracting and ugly, so I use a sheet or big bit of fabric (as you can see, my purple bed fleece is my favourite for this!). Hang it up onto something so that it's forming an 'L' shape from whatever you hang it from and coming across the floor. Make sure there are no creases in it as far as you can.

I find the best place to do this is to have a large open window to the left or right of your sheet (a window in front can work, but you risk overexposing your photo or casting shadows on your bun). Avoid direct sunlight, but make sure there is a lot of light. Don't use a flash unless you have to, as this will make your photo look 'washed out' and your bunnys eyes may go red.

You can use lots of things (like the ribbons in the photo above) to make it a little more interesting.

You don't need an expensive camera to get good results, these photos were taken with my DSLR, but I have got almost as good results with my phone camera using this method before. You can also use an image editing program to clean up any creases, add borders etc. to tidy up your photos.

All you need now are some cute poses from your bun!

Here are a few other shots I took this way:

Great tips and gorgeous photos! That one with the baby in the egg is too cute.

I use most of those tips when I am doing my 'official' show photos of my rabbits, it really makes things easy!

Thanks!

Thanks! He he, the egg photo took me hours, the little bugger just would not stay still!

Yeah, it looks much more professional than a snapshot for 'official' photos.

I think it's nice for people to be able to have great photos of their pets without the huge cost of having a photographer do it. The English Spot died recently, and that photo means so much to me. :)

bluebird, it usually takes a while, I just keep the camera on them and wait until the right moment! I often use a twig with a few leaves on to wave above them to get their attention, they will usually look alert and stretch up to sniff it, just have to be careful not to get it in the shot.

:)

I use Adobe Photoshop, and it's the best I've tried, but it is expensive. I have used programs such asPhoto Impression and Photo Impact before though, and they will usually do the trick. They often come free with scanners/printers/cameras etc. and there are also a number of useful programs you can download for free.

Errr... I tried your tips but used towels and it is a gloomy day today so it looked terrible! Any who here is a picture I took.

Oh my gosh monklover, that is so cute!I don't think it's terrible! If you cropped the white bits off the sides it might look better. Your bunny is so cute!

Hehe. I am a goof.

Hi Jenson,

First, I want to pass on my sympathies to you losing your English spot...what a gorgeous rabbit (s)he was...:(

And I also wanted to say that your photos are incredibly well done! If you're not a professional pet photographer, you certainly could be....very very impressive!

:DPaint. I copied alittle of the towel and pasted it around the outer area.

ok I am pretty stupid! I just realized I had a picture editing program on my computer! well I changed the picture a lot! It looks much better now!
