so much for strep throat

Gah, had to call off my 8hr shift yesterday which really hurts us big time.

Woke up from my nap before work with a 101.6 fever, coughing, throat hurting for 2 days. So off to the medical center (er) to check up and get docs excuse. I got early stage strep, thankfully I caught it early and got meds.

Now I am on higher dose of amoxicillin and got some naproxin for achey joints. But I can not get rid of the stupid coughs. It is so agravating right now.

I took robitussion for cough nothing. What can I do.

I'm just about ready to go to bed and it's not even 10:00pm.

I hope you get feeling better soon! I personally swear by the Tylenol Severe Cold & Flu medicine along with nice long steamy baths when I have bad coughs on top of everything else.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather, Angel. We've all been sick here, too.

A spoon of honey always seems to help soothe a cough for me.

My mom said warm honey will help the cough.

I wish I could take a nice long hot steemy bath. But our bathroom is so cold, that by the time the hot water hits the tub it is ice cold. Shower is the only option. We are moving soon, we can not handle another cold house in the winter no more. We have to crank the heat up to 76 to have the whole down stairs nice and warm, but our bedroom is so hot, so we turn the heat down to 62 at night to keep our bedroom comfortable. Especially when I am sick with a fever too.

I agree, I am glad I caught it early. I might have to take weds off. Not sure yet, I work 11am so depends how I am when I get up.

I just noticed you said you got naproxin. Just wanted to say that I was once proscribed naproxin and It really messes up your stomach. Maybe it was just me but my mom was also proscribed it and it was the same for her. But you may not feel the same. Just warning you.

Hope you feel better soon. Strep throat sucks, I've had it alot and it sucks.

Drink lots of ice water, it numbs the pain in your throat.

I have had strawberry flavor.

This one was bitter citrus, ugh, by the time you swallow, gag gag lol

The pill is so big for me to swallow that is why I asked for liquid. Today ti was making my tum feel weird. thank god I am off tomorrow originally.

Naproxin pills work well but are disgustingly chalky. I have them all year round and I take mine with milk. It helps a lot. They are big though. :biggrin2: Glad you got the liquid form Plus, who wants to swallow huge pills when they have strep? I mean c'mon they should have given you liquid to start with!

Hope you're feeling better SPM! Strep is nasty! (My daughter gets it 5-6 times a year.) Get lots of rest and drink warm tea with honey. If the meds are upsetting your stomach, try a little yougurt. Keeps the good bacteria moving through your system (just like what we do with the bunnies!)

I could not keep the meds down last night or when I got up today. I kept gaging it up so much. I can not take that no more.
