Hello Everyone,

Today when I had Holly out in her pen, later in the evening I noticed she had a little sneezing fit. (Sneezed like 5-8 times in a row) And then didn't for a couple hours. Then she did it again. After wards when I put her to bed I didn't hear her sneeze at all. But now sitting here (they're in my computer room with me) she sneezed again, this time only one little sneeze, and then she rubs her nose.

Her nose isn't wet or any discharge or anything. She just went to the vet not even 2 weeks ago and was completely healthy. Is this something to be concerned about, or do you think she just had something bothering her nose right now?

Thanks!

Crystal (Bandit & Holly)

Crystal, hey,

How old is she and how long have you had her? Have you changed anything lately, like, did you dust, change hay, detergent? My Angel has always had sneezing fits when she grooms, even when she's on her hocks! Her fur is very fine, little furs, so I guess I can expect this as she has never been sick or had colored discarge. But you are right to look at the color and consistency of it. I hope it's nothing. :)

Holly is 3 months. And I will have had her for 1 month tomorrow. She does't have any discharge and her nose isn't wet or anything. I don't think I've changed anything?!

Well I've been keeping an eye on Holly for a couple days now, and she still has her little sneezes. Poor little girl. Now a few mins ago I went in her pen with her and under her nose is a TINY bit wet. Is that normal?

There is no changes in her diet or anything. And no changes in her behavior, just had tiny sneezes.

Is your hay or litter more dusty than normal? Are you at the bottom of the pellet bag with all the dust? Have you used any household cleaners, candles, incense, etc lately?

I'd just keep a close eye on her for now, and try to remove anything that might be causing her to sneeze.

Hi Crystal :D

How are her eyes looking, are they getting runny or glugy?

I remember from having indoor rabbits that they would start to sneeze if I hadn't washed the carpet for a long time, especially BunBun. He was very sensitive to dust and pollen.

Perhaps you could try hiring one of those wet and dry vacuums and just going over the carpet on the wet mode but with no cleaners in it - you just want to suck the dirt up, and the cleaning shampoo I would imagine just adds more smell and more chance of sneezing. Then let it dry for a day before you let the buns back out.

If she starts to get worse and the discharge goes a funny colour, or her front paws look matted, I would take her to the vet ASAP.

Keep us updated with Holly :).

My Hay doesn't seem to be too dusty, and her bag of food is brand new so no dust there. I have used an air freshener in the living room lately but she does it when she's in her room too where I don't use anything like that. I have an air purifier in the living room where she spends her days in her Pen.

I do keep an eye on her eyes and they dolook fine.We just steam cleaned the carpets not that long ago actually. And I vacuum pretty much everyday.

But I will definately keep an eye on her. She doesn't constantly sneeze, just every so often, but when she does she sneezes like 10 times in a row. I will keep ya posted!

It is worrying! I'm terrible with vacuuming, I'm not a very tidy person, so BunBun would always give me that evil look as if to say "come on woman, clean this house up!" :D

Hopefully Holly improves, I will keep checking back for news.

Yea I am a worry wort though! I am always making sure they're perfect. Along with my cats as well. I'm such a worrier. I'll panick over the smallest things he heeh

I am a neat freak. I drive my fiance nuts, cuz all I do is clean. He says I have OCD hahahaha. But the carpet is vacuumed an awful lot and like I said we did steam clean it not that long ago.

Could the vinegar make her sneeze? I clean her cage with50/50 Vinegar and water. And I have a tube I put in her pen and she peed all in it so the yesterday I took it out and sprayed it out with Vinegar adn then soaked it in the shower and hung it to dry. Came out clean, but her cage has vinegar in it to an extent cuz thats what I clean it with?!

But she definately does not act sick, she's her normal self and looks pretty good to me! But I'm still new at this bunny thing so thats also why I'm such a worry wort hehehe

My Boy cat, Timmy he has sneezing fits all the time. Something bothers his nose too, but its not evey day he does that.

Hmm I'm not sure on the vinegar as I have never used it before. I just clean everything with hot water or my steam cleaner.

I wish I was a neat freak some days. I am obsessive about keeping the rabbit hutches clean, but the house I just...meh...not really interested. I vacuum every day these days because of my allergies to dust (and flowers, and perfume, and rabbits, and everything else) but I hate doing dishes and making beds. I make sure I do them before my partner gets home though otherwise he gets very grumpy ;).

My heart sinks whenever I think anything could be wrong with one of the animals, so I know how you feel. It's especially hard with rabbits as they seem to hide it well.

Yes they definitely do hide it well. I agree there. I will say that I hate doing dishes, thats why I have a dishwasher hehehe I refuse to do dishes, I've never had to.And I don't like making beds either. I do it, but I can't stand it! It's definitely not done every single day and it's not done perfect.
