Hi everyone, my dad noticed Odin was pressing his stomach to the floor and rolling around weirdly.

When he told me that, I notice directly it was stomach pains and tried to see if Odin would want to eat anything. He refused eating and would just press his stomach. At least we notice it early, it had only gone 2 hours since he have stopped eating.

So I fixed CC for him, massaged his stomach and chased him around the house. After an hour of doing this, he managed to squeeze out two droppings. So we are heading towards a good direction ☺️

I get so tired of my parents overfeeding Odin with treats and greens.

He have started to eat his hay and back to normal lively self that beg for food. So it worked well chasing him around and I truly hate force feeding Odin. His mouth is so small, it’s like you are trying to force feed a kit and I have no good syringe that work with his mouth 🙄

Glad he's feeling better. Maybe next time (if there is a next time), rather than force feeding him CC right away, instead try giving him some simethicone. It is less stressful (easier) to give and often is quicker at relieving the gas pain that is causing him to reject food. (Simethicone also comes with the dropper/syringe.)

I was going to give gas drops but turned out the one I had, had already expired so didn’t want to give it to him 😊

I’m going to buy a new one today from the pharmacist.

I'm so glad he's ok!! That's frustrating that your parents overdo it. Is there any way you can set boundaries with them? Like treats are only for you to give? Or can there be a common area that can write down that Odin has already had X amount of treats? I would be frustrated if my mom did that with my rabbit, leaving me to handle the outcome of it.

I’ll might need to put up a system, at least my parents have portioned up the size of his treats. So he won’t get more overweight but they feed him all too often. I can’t keep watch on Odin all the time and tell my parents what to do.

At least it will only be one more year with this before I move out.

The problem is that my dad forgets how much he gives while not thinking that my mom also give Odin treats. His treats are leafy greens from outdoors to berries they have plucked specially for him.

While winter time it will be kale and roman salad as leafy greens and carrots as treats. Because he’s small he can’t eat the same amount of treats as the other bunnies 🙄

I have already put up a rule if Odin get tooth problem it’s my parents that will pay for the vet cost. Because I have already lectured about the problems of feeding him too much treats, from stomach to teeth problems. My insurance won’t cover for teeth problems.

I get tired over telling my parents to not feed the bunnies. I have even a board on the frigde that say “Don’t feed the bunnies”. Also my little brother also keep an watch on my parents and tell them to not feed Odin.

That's so annoying, I'm sorry. If only a year went by faster. Sometimes parents are just too stubborn to listen to us. My mom is like that with my garden. There are specific ones that I have a specific way of taking care of but she just does what she wants and then I deal with the repercussions.

That's a good idea about telling them that they'll pay for the vet bill if he has any issues. Maybe it'll knock some sense into them.

I also struggle with my mum overfeeding greens to my bun. Despite him being more than big enough to tolerate a larger amount than most other rabbits, mum knows no boundries and really gets on my nerves when she nags at me to go and pick Storm dandelion leaves and complains to me that "he is always hungry" although i know that he is not. Storm has gotten used to these huge amounts of greens but mum insists that it isn't enough, collects and gives him more than he can eat and then she comes complaining to me that i don't take care of him. I've tried so many times to talk to her that greens aren't an absolute nescessity to statisfying his hunger as he has all the hay that he wants, that she needs to stop chasing him down to give a leaf or two every hour, and also to stop giving him so much-the poor boy can't even finish off his current leaves when mum already comes and hands him a big bunch more. The same applies to all sorts of treats and even his basic nuggets. Dad is much more reasonable though and he knows when and when not to give certain things, also taking into consideration the amount that mum has provided Storm with. Too bad that she has to be so stubborn about thinking that her way (or her past granny's horrible ways) is better than dad's way of logic and reason or my way of being informed by good sources.
I too cannot wait to move out of here....
I'm glad that your bun managed to get through that and he's doing fine again!

That’s just how some parents are, my parents blame eachother for giving Odin too much treats when both are the cause.

I just think my parents will never truly see their kids as an adult. Every time my big brother get in trouble my dad always cover for him and never see him as an adult. Which have ended up with my older brother still not learnt his lessons on how to save money and have a bit of saving for emergency. He’s 40 years old now and he keep on saying that me and my little brother are super spoiled 🤣

My parents thinks they know the best thing for the bunnies and I know they just want to spoil them. But their love for the bunnies just make it a lot harder to care for them. At least Odin getting gas pain is a wake up call. So I’m sure my parents will be more careful when giving him treats.

Oop, can't relate. My mom really truly cares for our pets as much as I do, so when we had Chamomile, she always asked before feeding and such, if it's okay to give or if she's already had enough for today of that food. She doesn't give treats unless I say it's okay.
