Skin or what

Hi my lionhead (Roger male) had this knot of hair sinceI got him so I decided I would cut it off, but as I got futher into it I relised it was a flap of skin but as I cut into it before even knowing it was skin. He didn't even flinch or bleed. So my question is will he be O.K.? Ohh and my scissors is really blunt. Thank god!

Does he have an open wound from this.? the skin is fragile and gets pulled with the fur and it is very difficult to cut (an angora esp. ) with scissors.
you may need to try to look through his fur for an open patch where you cut.

If you think it was a flap of skin that isn't normal or a bump I would take my bun to the vet to see what it is. But I tend to rush to the vet for stupid things so take that for what it is worth.

If you think it was just normal skin that got pulled out farther when you tried to cut the hair I would just try to keep the wound clean.

I would think if you cut the skin it would bleed. That is what makes me wonder if it was something else like an abcess or cyst or something that was sticking out. I hope someone else comes along and helps you out. I don't have much experience with skin issues to know what it could be. But for me when in doubt I would get it looked at if you think it was anything abnormal.

I know of a woman who tried to cut a mat out of her angora with scissors. it was hard to tell what was fur and/or skin and she cut the skin ..but in this case it left a small hole just like what would occur if you cut cloth. That 's what i was asking you to look for on your bun.
if you cut her you may want to take her to the vet to have the area surrounding the cut shaved so you could care for the cut

No but that's the thing I gave a good look for 5 min and No blood or cuts turned up any ideas?

Are you sure that you did not cut into hard matted hairball instead of skin. ?

if she seems OK now I wouldn't worry about it
Never try to cut mats with scissors. At the shelter we often have to anestheize cats and actually shave the ones that are badly matted

Well he has not changed any of his routenes. He's even more active. So I don't think I'll worry. But I won't try again. Thanks for the help.:mrsthumper:
