Should Two Reed Eyed White Rabbits Produce REW Offsprings

I checked on the Genetic color calculator on one website that 2 REW's should produce 100% REW offsprings. But when I bred my 2 REW LH 3 months ago, the Dam gave birth to 5 red-eyed kits, 3 of them are lightly marked sable points! Is this normal? The only time I had her free ranging (for exercise she was supposedly 1.5 weeks pregnant) accidentally is with a chinchilla holland lop buck but considering the 30/31 days gestation period, it should be really my REW LH as the father which I intentionally bred to her 1.5 weeks prior to her free ranging date.

If you have the doe and bucks pedigrees you can see if there are any other colors in their lines. REW is dominant but they can also throw recessive colors from previous generations. I’m not an expert on genetics, but we bred REW Polish for several years.

Thanks for your reply! And you're getting red eyed sable point Polishes from your stocks? Inhave no access to pedigree but I've been checking the dam since yesterday and I can see that there is a very light almost unnoticeable brown marking on her tail. Im also no expert with color genetics.

No such thing as a red eyed sable point. They're probably pointed whites. Pointed whites can look darker as babies as they are as adults if they get chilled. At least one parent needs to be pointed white to throw pointed white babies, if the other parent is for sure REW. But there are a lot of things that can make the points of pointed whites very pale and hard to see, such as non-extension, agouti, dilution and chocolate. It sounds like your dam might also be a pointed white from that description.

With Blue Eyed Whites (BEW), when bred together they produce 100% BEW. I'm assuming the same rule goes for Red Eyed Whites, but I have never personally worked with this color.

Blue Eyed White’s (& REW’s) technically "hide" their true base color of the bunny in it's homozygous form.
This means that even though they look all white with bright blue / red eyes, they’re actually a completely different color genetically!

This will not affect the outcome of the breeding unless one of the parents is not REW. If you breed REW to anything other than REW, there is a wide variety of colors you could get from the offspring.
