We had a cold snap here recently but it's finally beginning to warm up (according to the weather reports a couple of days ago, we will be going from -31C (with wind chill) up to around +11C next week. How weird is that for weather? And we have enough snow on the ground now to last us till next August, despite the fact that typically, Ottawa gets most of its winter snow in January-February!

Speaking of snow, here's a funny news item: a man in Quebec has (or had? It might still be up for sale) the snowbank in his front yard up for auction on eBay. LOL! And what's even funnier...people are bidding on it! Last time I heard them talking about it on the radio, his highest bid was around $1300.00. I believe the money is being donated to a charity, but it's just too funny...selling your snow! I could make a rather large fortune if I could sell all the white stuff on my property.

Anyway, today I am heading out to pick up a specialty diet for my oldest kitty (they still don't know for sure what's wrong with her, but at least she's been feeling better after taking some meds), and then it's off to Nepean to pick up my computer. <begin vent>Small gripe about Purolator: They only seem to deliver in the middle of the day, when you're at work...and they don't even try to re-deliver at another time...if you're not home, too bad...they leave a notice tagged to your door (lol...announcing to all burglars that you're not home :p) telling you that if you want your shipment, you have 5 days to go and pick it up on the other side of town, otherwise it gets sent back to the supplier. So now I've had to go and bother my sister for a ride out to Purolator's depot if I want my computer.</end vent>

Oh, and I also purchased a few NIC cubes (finally located some...yay!) along with the largest dog crate I could find. Once the dog crate arrives I'll be attempting to construct a nice living area for Anna and Yofi, since Yofi is determined to destroy the bunny room when I'm not home. Since my building/design skills are somewhat challenged, those two could potentially end up living in something that looks like it came out of a Dr. Suess story.

So that's my plans for the day, so far. :D

- 31C?:shock:Brrrrr that's cold!!:p

I'm feeling pretty rotten today. I've caught a nasty bug at the worst possible time as I have very importantpublic exams next week but revising when you have a fever, headache and can't speak isn't the best way to learn.:grumpy:I also have to drag myself out for dinner tonight as we are having a 'goodbye' dinner for my sister who is going to France for a month tomorrow.:tears2:So not a very fun weekend in all.:(

Oh, that sounds awful. :( I know that I can't concentrate on anything at all when I'm feeling sick. I don't know if this will help, but my sister was telling me this morning about a product called 'Cold FX' which is sold in pharmacies; she says it helps not only with cold symptoms but with lots of other viruses as well. She's taken it when feeling ill and found it helped her immensely. Not sure if it's sold in the U.K. but it might be worth a try if it is.

I hope you're feeling much better very soon, and good luck on your exams...

We have been cold for a few days too and today it's above freezing around 40° F. Only problem - it's raining. YUCK!

Hubby has been working on my truck and unfortunately he was wrong about the brakes locking up - they were bad but it's most likely the transmission so I'm guessing it's off to the shop.

(hubby is a procrastinator and I'm gonna end up without a car for awhile if I know him! :X)

On a good note: I have three adorable bunnies!!! :biggrin2:

I saw that on the news too. Not only that, people were coming over and scooping the snow away. ;)

The post office does that too. :X Our mailman delivers in the mornings, but if something is too large or heavy, they would leave a tag on your door to pick up even when someone was home.

Just before Christmas, I bought a new 16 Gb memory card from Best Buy Online. It was worth $250 and the mailman just left it in the mailbox. Shouldn't they have you sign for it when it comes in? Anyone could oftook it out of the mailbox.

One more vent, I ordered some fleece beds from Pet Palace. I never received it. :(
Eight weeks later, I phoned the company, and they promptly sent out another order (no charge to me).
I received it in 4 days and it was a hugh box. How could avery large box get lost in the first place?

The company is located here in Edmonton. I spent quite a bit of money on the product. When I feel something coming on, I start taking it. I wish I bought stocks in it. ;)

It's been a busy day for me.
I was up early, but went back to sleep until around 9am.
Got up, showered, fed the buns, ran out to the bank, pet store, and market.
Got home and changed litter pans, and now I'm hanging out watching TV, having a brew, and munching on guacamole tortilla chips and cheddar/bacon dip
....(***doggy just walked in to see what I was eating***:p)

I added an extra door on the side of Tootsie's cage so I can sitand pet her while I watch TV in the bun's room. She's such a cage-clinger that she hangs out in her cage even if I leave it open all day!

I am home!!! I had some things to do and with Reese going into the vet on Monday, I decided to come home and take her myself. I went into the garage when I got home and none of them even flickered and ear in my direction. :XThe things I do for my ungratefulbunnies... LOL.

But after being away for a week, I realise how big Mocha is! He looks gigantic to me now.

Ooo thanks - that is brilliant! I'll try and find that.:hug:I think I'm going to need all the luck I can get in these exams...:?

Lucky for me the town I am living in chinooks all winter so its actually warmer than it is in my home town despite being farther north and in the mountains. It's been sitting slightly below freezing which I find to be the perfect temperature.

Reese has to have her teeth rechecked.

Aero and Mia are no longer in my care. It was a tough decision that had a lot of factors to itbut I found them both great homes and I still believe it was the best decision. With Reese's teeth issue, 3 rabbits is much more managable and afforable so I will not be getting another rabbit.

Just seeing this. Before Christmas, I saw on our news a man had bid for some snow to give children at a hospice a 'White Christmas'

Seeing the kids sledding and playing in the snow was probably worth every penny he bid :)

Hey Di, just saw this and thought I would mention that I once lived in Barrhaven. Thinking of you all today! It's about 7 degrees and sunny here in beautiful Victoria!

(Oh gosh, sorry for the late reply; I tendto miss a lot of posts:?) I didn't know you used to live here! It's such a small world, isn't it...a while back one of the members of RO had contacted me about something, and in our talking we discovered that she grew up on the very street where I now live, just a few doors down. And now she lives in Manitoba. And a few years back I used to belong to another forum, and was chatting one night with a guy who was a regular member, but we'd never spoken before. He lived somewhere in the U.S. (Indiana or Idaho, I forget now) but in our discussion he asked where I lived...when I told him Ottawa, Canada, he said, "I used to live in Ottawa, in a small part called Vanier". Well, yep...that's where I live! Funny, huh?

I've never been to BC but keep hearing about how beautiful it is. (My sister wants to someday move out there.) Oh, as for the weather here...this morning it was +11, but is going to drop down throughout the day till it hits -1 or so. This winter has been crazy for up-and-down temps so far!
