RIP Scooter and Miss Peepers

I feel terrible. I just saw them running and being silly in their wheel this last week. Now they're both gone. My little hammies died because they didn't have any water... I filled it up last weekend and I think it leaked. One must have died a day or so ago because it was all dried out. The other one looked like it died today or yesterday. I was not able to clean their cage this weekend because of the ER visit with Toby.

I'm sorry, little ones. I let you down. :tears2:

Awww, RIP little babies. You were so cute and sweet! I'm sorry kherrmann, you must be feeling so bad I had a Syrian hamster, Rubeus, that I found dead in his cage only a couple weeks after getting him. It disturbs me that when I found him, he didn't have any water in his water bowl. I'd refilled it the morning before, but it had been hot and my other hamsters were all tiny little dwarves who didn't need as much water. I was in the middle of transitioning between 2 jobs and was having to work full time at both of them, plus I was moving, and I hadn't checked on Rubeus that morning. I'll never know if he died from dehydration or if the empty water bowl was just a coincidence...

I'm so sorry. Hamsters are such fragile little guys. It is so easy for those water bottles to leak too--they seem to love to pile up bedding underneath the spigot and that drains it all at once. It must have been so shocking to find them like that, especially with the emotional roller-coaster ride you guys have been having with Toby. Anyone can make a mistake like that and bad things just happen sometimes, so don't be hard on yourself.
