I live in Washington. RHDV2 cases are skyrocketing around me. It’s only a matter of time before cases hit Washington. I’m wondering if the virus dies when it gets to around -5F. Usually during the winter nights for us, it gets to about 15F average. Sometimes it gets to -5F. But how long can the virus last during these temps? When cases do enter Washington, I’m hoping the virus dies in the Winter.

Freezing temps dont usually kill viruses.
There are already cases in WA.

Odd... House Rabbit Society made no mention of RHDV2 in Washington. They also said that it can survive for 225 days at 39F. But we get much colder than that and it would eventually die even in 39F. I don’t know. 🤷‍♀️ I guess House Rabbit Society is wrong, I thought they were reliable...

I believe the WA cases were logged at the end of 2019, which is why it probably does not appear on the USDA's current mapping and HRS reporting, both of which are focusing on 2020-21. The USDA did an RHDV2 overview presentation in 2020. Around the 4:30min mark, they go through the timeline and you'll see the WA cases were pre-2020: USDA APHIS - RHDV2 Overview
