My outdoor rabbits harley and fudge have started tunneling in a big way under there hutch. They are seven months old and have never dug before. They have made a single big tunnel about two foot deep. I dont think they are trying to escape as the hole is straight down in the middle of the run. Is it because winter is coming and they want to live underground?

Rabbits burrow, it's a natural instinct. It could in part have to do with the approach of winter, or it could just be that they are at the age of full maturity now and those instincts are now kicking in.

They are both supposed to be girls so unlikely unless the vet made a mistake. The tunnel is over two foot deep now and getting deeper by the day. They dont seem to sleep in their hutch anymore but just sit outside in the cold
