look at a couple of garage sales. You can sometimes find some really cheap dressers or chest. Rip out the drawers and fill the levels in with cheap particle board however you want it built and then just a couple NIC panels to cover up the holes where the drawers are. You should be able to get a really good sized hutch for total of 50-70$ depending on how good your haggling skills are, plus the couple hours of work into it

Another idea instead of an actual cage is an x-pen! you can find tons of dog pens at amazon and they all are great! You should look into them!

Hope this helped!

NIC cages are cheap. Lots of fun to build!

I made a 3 story NIC cage that is 4 panels long for $100! I bought a few extras too.

Good luck!

I have been reading alot of older posts about the NIC cages and a couple of years ago the manufacturer changed the size of the inner squares. Is this still a problem? I am looking into building our bunnies a 4x2x2 area so the will be indoor bunnies.......any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

Both are available. Depends on where you find them. Just be sure the grid openings are the 1 1/2" and not 3".

Here's a NIC cage I made for a couple buns I had (gone now). I think it was a good size.
