Rabbit carrier

What kind of carrier should we get for our dwarf rabbit? He was brought home in a cardboard box which is obviously not a long term solution.

We have an upcoming vet appointment that we need it for. Soft structured or hard? Since he is so small can it be Guinea pig sized?

I recommend a hard carrier that is big enough to fit a snug-a-bun (Here). Some good carriers are the AmazonBasics Pet Travel Carrier and Petmate Ruffmaxx Dog Carrier. I broke my carrier but my usual set up is a snug-a-bun in the carrier, hay in the back, and something with their scent on it.

It's simulates having other rabbits cuddling them as comfort because car rides are stressful.

Rabbits shouldn't be on just the hard plastic bottom of a carrier because they will slide around and can't get footing. The link here shows how to use a carrier. A folded towel or pet bed can serve the purpose of preventing that sliding around (as you'll see pics of in link)

I really like carriers that have a door in the top (mine is pictured) it seems to be easier for the vet to get them out this way rather than reaching in the side. If you have two bunnies I find it useful as the first bunny in the carrier is less likely to escape out the top while you catch the other one.

I line mine with newspaper and hay or sometimes a towel. I also leave it all the time in their cage so they get used to it and put a towel over the top so they can jump on it as well. For transport you can also lay a towel over the top so the bunnies feel more protected and less exposed.

I have carriers big enough to fit to bunnies but looking for one to fit 3 bunnies.
I got my carriers from rspca for £5 and in shop they cost £45 -somebody donated them -we cleaned them and they are fine.
Fairly big but not for 3.

I always recommend hard sided cat carriers - with a pet bed or blankets on the bottom so that they’re not sliding. The one I have is £10 from petsathome.
The ones that are often sold for rabbits are usually too small. But you should get one that is big enough for your rabbit to turn around but not too big that it’ll hit the sides if you have to break suddenly - if that makes sense
