we just took in a 7 1/2 month male mini lop today that someone didnt want anymore and it bit my daughter a few hours ago and broke the skin. now she feels very sick. is this just a coincidence or do rabbits carry diseases? IM WORRIED!!

I have never heard of anyone getting sick from a bite from a rabbits, I have been bitten before and nothing has come of it (though it really hurts - ouch)

I'm not an expert in this type of thing though, hopefully someone with more knowledge will come along in a minute.:)

As with any animal (or human) bite, there is a chance that the wound could become infected. That probably isn't very likely if the wound was washed.

Other than that, I don't think there's anything that a rabbit could really transfer with a bite. And they don't carry rabies, so there's no worry about that. The primary diseases that a human could get from a rabbit are parasites.

So I'm guessing it's just a coincidence.:)

Most likelyjust a coincidence. The highest risk is to people with suppressed immune systems due to illness, organ transplant, cancer, aids, etc.

Be certain the wound is disenfected and watch for signs of swelling or infection.
