I'm going to give one of my buns some pumpkin and pineapple juice because he's had a lot of fur in his poop lately. This is probably a really dumb question, but.....

Do you use the pumpkin that comes in a can and is found in the section with pie filling and such? I looked at the ingredients and it says"100% pumpkin" so I guess that must be it but wanted to make sure. Can you use pineapple juice from a can of pineapple chunks or does it need to be a fresh pineapple?

Thanks!

for pumpkin, youre right, its in a can and says 100% pure. Its usually near the cans of pie filling.

for pineapple, Im really not sure. I would think the juice from the can would be fine if it was no/light syrup. I would just be worried about the sugar content in some of the cans.

The heating proces the pineapple goes through during canning usually kills the enzymes.

Fresh is best for the enzymesin pineapple.

It has to be fresh pinapple juice, squeezed & crushed from a pinapple - canned won't work.

Make sure to rinse his mouth with water after as it is very acidic.

i have heard that pinapple juice doesnt work.that is just a myth. but i tried it and i got my bunnies pineapple juice from a can that has pineapple chunks in it. my rabbits stayed away from the juice.

Yes, from what I've found the enzyme in pineapple juice does not dissolve hair or the mucous around blockages. What does help is the fluids, they really help keep the intestines moving and keep the blockage wet so it's easier to break up.

The 100% pure pumpkin is exactly what you're looking for. All of mine love it as a treat, except Oberon. It really does help mine with furry poop and problems with tiny poops during molting.

Another good thing to do is encourage them to drink more water. If you use a water bottle, give them a bowl also. Or you can try flavoring a second water container with a tiny bit of vanilla, flavored Pedialyte, or sugar-free juice. Then just encourage them to eat as much hay as possible.
