Well all not sure what I did. I bruised my ankle a few days back. Thought nothing of it. Now it's swollen and sore. I can walk on it, but not comfortably. When I stay off of it for 8 hours I can walk on it pain free for about 20 min or so. So thinking if I stay off of it for a few days I can get it to heal. The problem is I cannot miss work. I do not get sick days so it is NOT an option. And the crutches are not allowed on the bus. So I am on crutches till I get to work, then I hobble to the bus and back without them and back onto the crutches. So please all say a prayer this heals and is nothing serious. If it's not better by the end of the week I am going to have to go to the doctor and may end up missing work at a time when financially I cannot.

I'm so sorry! How in the world can crutches not be allowed on a bus? Isn't that discrimination?
I was thinking the same thing...aren't buses designed for those that cannot use a car (and I think crutches qualifies)? What jerks...

Hehe well since I kind of drive the bus......it's just a safety issue they figure if I need them I'm not fit to drive. Only it's my left ankle which I do not use. Plus I work with one well I won't use the word I want for this man, but he lives to get others in trouble so I won't chance it.

This is gonna sound stupid... but my husband did something similiar. The stupid part being, I dont recall what he did or what the diagnosis was, but it wasnt a big deal. I think he tripped and hit his ankle on a tool box at work, but don't quote me.

I do recall he had to alternate heat and cold on it, he had to wrap it, and take lots of Advil.

I think they may even make a Thermal Care wrap for the ankle, if they don't, it is easy to rig one, Wal-Mart makes their brand of Thermal Care wraps, and theirs is actually made with a little packet you slip into the belt. I would wrap the ankle, slip the packet into the wrap, wrap it some more, and be careful not to let it lay directly on your skin, (I did that once, I still have the scar from the heat blister).Wrap it snuggly, but don;t cut your circulation off.

As soon as you get off... get an ice pack on it.. keep it on it...

Pop those Advil's...

I wish you luck.. I hate this comes at such a crappy time for you, but then again, bad luck always does..

Well just one day of staying off of it other than to hobble to and from my bus and it feels better. It's still sore and tight but better. Nearest we can tell is I did something walking in my sleep or possibly our rottie might have landed on me in bed which has happened a large number of times.
