A few people have asked me about Fraggles who is almost two weeks post surgery. She is now loose in the living room again for short amounts of time. The humping is pretty much gone on our end. However she did hump our friends cat two nights ago (Go Fraggles!)... I did get circled today and Jason is still being groomed to death. She got on the coffee table yesterday and stole a few bite of a $30 dollar sandwich so she is pretty much her normal self again.

Glad to hear she is feeling up and at 'er!
Jj

On another note she has been pretty upset during meal times. She gobbles her pellets and salads pretty quick and then goes over to stare at Muppet who is a very danty eater. Muppet will be happily munching away for up to 30 minutes and Frags who finishes her dish in about 4 minutes will stand there and thump her foot. Its her way of whinning at Muppet "Give meeeee some :("

Aw poor Fraggles was wondering how the forum leader was doing? Glad she's doing well, how's her weight management going is she allowed any treats yet?

Happy to hear she's ok :biggrin2:
Any idea on how long it takes hormones to go? I get conflicting info on the subject. I've seen 2 weeks up to 2 months. I've also seen that the hormones "settle" in levels, which makes no sense to me since sex hormones originating from ovaries I would think disappear completely once the organ is removed, like in humans having to take replacement hormones after a hysterectomy.

Do you think some of her behaviors could be habits? Possibly retained because she had the behaviors longer (circling, humping, excessive grooming)? Just curious if it makes a difference in behavior if a bunny is altered at or before puberty vs at an older age? Sorry for all the questions, your case has me a thinkin' :)

So glad to hear Fraggles is doing so well.

I don't know about girl bunnies, but I have neutered and watched very closely two boy bunnies. I think it depends on the individual. Dobby lost his hormonal behaviour after two weeks, but Kreacher seem to have it longer. But I think Ape337 might have something there about learned behaviour. Experiencing the hormonal urge and all that goes with it. Some remember, some let it go.

K:)

Well because she is almost two her personality will not really change. Her behaviors are learned so for the most part its same old Fraggles which is fine by us :)......
Her diet is still in place and she is about 5 ounces. OK so the $30 dollar sandwich is Jasons newest thing. We have a new cheese and wine bar down the street. They offer a four cheese grilled sandwich with white truffles in it. Its $30 bucks and if Jason could leave me for a sandwich I think he would.....

Sheeeew glad to hear some news on Frags, I was getting worried... I think you are going to have the same problem I have with miss fatty fat Willow at meal times. She gobbles her food in record time and then goes looking in the others bowls ( hense the " big bones" ). If you find a way around that let me know!! Btw... Do tell, what kind of sandwich costs $30? :?

Wow, that better be a really good sandwich haha.

Glad Miss Fraggles is doing good and still humping cats XD

Harvey humped my cats maybe only the first week after he got neutered. After that nothing. And he was a fiend for the cats XD

Haha, glad to hear her spay went well. Maybe the nip of the sandwich was Fraggles' way of saying "Well, if I can't have Muppet's food, I'll take yours!"

Glad to hear Fraggles is recovering well; I've been wondering how you and yours were doing. We've been hearing about Muppet, and Fraggles, and mentions of Jason and Ink the rabbit; but nothing about Tattoo. :( How's he doing?

Well Tattoo is actually very disappointed right now. Because Brandy (Minilophop) has a tank full of cherry shrimps. Tattoo wanted to throw a dinner party and invite Brandys shrimps as the guests of honor. But sadly Brandy declined Tattoo's invitation. Some people just can not accept an Octopus.

Poor Tattoo, he will just have to be comforted by all of his girls. I talked to the shrimp and they just don't want to go to dinner. :p

Have you tried making Fraggles work for her food? I got a cat treat dispenser to put Cinderella's pellets in. It looks like an egg and she has to nose bonk it over and then it spills out food. It forces them to slow down and exercise a little to get the food. Plus it is so cute to watch them.

I'm glad Fraggles is retaining her spicy personality because that is what makes her Fraggles. :biggrin2:

Well first of all, if Jason has to go then I suppose being groomed to death is as good as any.

Also, if your rabbit is getting $30 sandwiches, can I come live with you? :D

:yeahthat: Cause yummy grilled cheese :)

I'm glad to know Fraggles is fine!! And the best of all - she still knows what's good!! Go Fraggles, attack the $30 sandwiches! LOL
And snitch on everyone who doesn't take their vitamins!

Sorry to say, human folks, but with or without a surgery, Fraggles will keep scoring more points than you... hehe
