Hi to everyone!

So my little bunny girl is a major climber. Her newest feat of defianceis to jump on top of her low cage (new one in the process of being built) to reach other forbidden places. I'm afraid she might have jump on or off of it funny because we heard her jump, then my roommate notice she seemed to be favoring one of her front paws/leg. I got very concerned as she wouldn't put it down, etc. and tried to look for a vet to take her to (it's Sunday evening, night of the Super Bowl!) while she sat in the hen position by the wall.Gradually, she began to use it more so that I decided she might be ok to take her tomorrow (Monday). That was a couple of hours ago and now she seems fine, running (not hard though) and digging at the linoleum by the door. Is she hiding her injury and needs to be taken in, or was it nothing major and she's okay now? If I hadn't seen her before, I would never know anything happened looking at her now, but I'm not an expert - she's my first rabbit and I've only had her 4.5 months.

Hey gwhoosh!

If she doesn't seem to be any dramatic pain, she should be able to be left until tomorrow. If she is still limping a lot, or seems to be in a lot of pain, then try to find her a vet for tonight. Otherwise, just try to take her in tomorrow as early as possible.

Has she got any lumps or open cuts on her legs where she fell, or is she just limping. Have a look to see if she is bending it at a funny angle or not, and pick her up and have a feel of her leg. If you can feel any breaks, or anything that feels unnatural, then you would be better off taking her to the vet tonight.

How long has it been since she first fell? Did she recover after only a few minutes, or a few hours? Hours, it could be serious, minutes, she might have just banged it in a funny way on her way down.

Is she still limping?

I'm sure someone more experienced could give you some more information on leg injuries.

Good luck with her! I hope it's not too serious.

Rachel.

I tried to feel her leg almost right afterwards and she hopped away, didn't want me to touch it. I tried to soothe he rby petting her and slipped my fingers on it and she jerked away when I touched it. It doesn't look bent, bleeding, etc. to me. She recovered in less than an hour, she sat in a lonely place looking like a bunny loaf with front legs tucked under. Then she'd let a little weight on and after a while she was walking like normal, as far as I saw. And she fell like 4-5 hours ago and now seems okay - no limping of what I can tell and pretty normal behavor and eating. I wouldn't be concerned if she was a dog or cat, but I know rabbits will hide sickness and injury,so I just wanted some opinions :) Thanks for the reply!

Hey there,

If she's starting to use her leg again i'm sure she will be fine,if itwas really sore and bothering her she would be sitting down more

So yeah,if she's doing everything as normal,i would just let her go but keep an eye on her

:yeahthat

I have one of the world's most ungraceful rabbits, but she thinks she's a ballerina. Sometimes she'll smack her foot on something during a binky gone wrong and she'll be careful with it for a bit. She's always recovered quickly, like your bun. I think as long as she's doing well now, she probably just smacked it good and got a bruise but no real damage.

Thanks! I feel better. I was just worried that she had somehow twisted it on the bars of her cage, but I guess she just landed funny.
