Possible Hair Loss In Lop Rabbit (Repost)

So today I noticed these two bald spots by my rabbits tail, she isabout 6-8 months old and is eating and drinking fine. She doesnt have any other bald spots beside these two. Is this cause enough to see a vet?

Btw if it helps, the guy I got her from told me shes a Holland Lop bun

If it's for sure not testicles and is bare skin, I notice that there is some urine staining down there. That would mean the fur likely fell out because of urine scald due to a urinary issue like a UTI, which would require a visit to your rabbit savvy vet.

Hmm this is the first Ive heard of urinw scald, but her pee appears to be its normal color and no signs of sludge? Idk what Im looking at too tbh

There would only be sludge if the urine scald was caused by excess calcium build up in the bladder. If the urinary incontinence and possible urine scald, is being caused by a bladder infection(UTI) there won't necessarily be any sign of sludgy or creamy urine. With a UTI, there may be signs of blood in the urine or the urine may turn a brownish color, though not always.

If her bottom and fur is continuing to get wet from urine, there is a health issue going on(UTI, sludge, etc). If it's not getting wet anymore, then it may have been environmental conditions in her previous home(if she's a new bun to you) that caused the urine staining, and now that she's in a dry environment, the fur should start growing back in and the urine staining will go away with her next molt.

She has very good bathroom habits, except for the occasional peeing on my bed (covered in a plastic sheet) when her cage is being cleaned. There isnt really any fur loss by the tail and belly, just isolated to those two spots which I find strange

You've seen her pee before (as indicated by the plastic on your bed, haha) -- does she arch her tail up, away from her body when she pees so the pee arcs away from her behind? Unsure if that makes sense, but I have heard of a few cases where rabbits have slight mobility issues in the back end, causing their bathroom habits to be messier than normal.

I think monitoring would be a good sign. If you can, take a look right after she pees and see if she's wet the skin area at all. Also keep an eye out if there are times she is peeing and she doesn't seem to intend to (ex. she is just sitting there and suddenly there's pee; no tail arc).

Ive never seen her tail arch, she just sits there and pees, ive noticed this most on the bed​

Hm, that's a bit odd that she doesn't arch her tail a bit to urinate. By arching, the stream doesn't puddle around the rabbit's behind/legs. It's something that I believe all rabbits do. If she doesn't, it may explain why she's getting so wet down there.


-- If you see, the first visit to the litter box isn't a real pee, but around the 25sec mark, you can see the rabbit's tail arches up when actually peeing.

Have you taken your rabbit to a rabbit-experienced vet yet?

I'm trying to remember what my rabbit looked like under there before he was fixed, but I don't remember them being that fleshy pink. It oilEi definitely still be a possibility though! I'm not experienced with what down there looks like. Either way, it sounds like a vet visit would be wise.

I have not, whats throwing me off is what feels like a bone towards the tail on both sides

Thanks for letting me know! There area doesnt look red or inflammed, but I was wondering if I should put some type of healing ointment on those pink spots in case its irritated or painful for the bun D:

Nope, not that Im aware, its just the sudden baldness is worrying me
