Hi guys,
I’ve been getting itches and little red bumps on me and It itches so much i scratch it uncontrollably.Has anyone had this?
- Is it because of fur mites on my rabbits?
I suspect it came from the bag of hays, how should I get rid of it if it’s in their food? I can’t spray chemicals on their food. I have scars and bumps on my entire leg now, need help :/ so does my rabbit.
Thank you !

So fur mites tend to infect an aera, then it often shows as dandruff looking stuff. Itchy bites on your lower limbs, sounds like flea bites.

Normal fur mites won't affect people. But sarcoptes mange(burrowing mite) and harvest mites(chiggers) can affect people. It's possible you have a contaminated batch of hay. I would get rid of the hay(find new uncontaminated hay for your rabbits), and contact your vet about treatment for your rabbit and what you should do for yourself and your home. Treatment for mange and/or fleas, is usually Revolution/Stronghold(selamectin) at 18mg/kg. It will treat both. I'm not sure, but Stronghold may be otc where you are.

Usually if you treat the rabbits, get rid of the source(hay), and treat your home when needed, the mites affect on you will go away as humans aren't the intended targeted host. They can't complete their life cycle on us so die off.
