Well, I definitely don’t have the best luck when it comes keeping rabbits in their enclosures lol.
I had my Netherland Dwarf buck and my New Zealand doe In separate pens opposite each other in the grass outside. I left for about an hour to clean out some of the other bunnies cages. When I went to check on them both I discovered that my Netherland Dwarf buck found himself in my New Zealand doe’s enclosure, where I found them “doing what rabbits do best”.

Now, I find this a bit concerning. The doe is slightly overweight, about 4-ish years old, and has never shown ANY interest in other rabbits before, nor has she ever been bred before.
It happened to be a full moon that night, and the weather has been warmer lately, could that be the reason?
Should I expect a litter from them?
If so, what can I expect from the offspring? The buck is black otter and the doe is harlequin marked orange. (I included her picture for color reference)

Any ideas? Advice?

She might get pregnant, being overweight and never bred at her age its a bit unlikly but possible.mark the date just in case.cant predict colors i have never seen new zealand thatcolor.

@bluebird well, I’m not 100% sure she’s purebred, she may be part harlequin. I guess I’m hoping that she isn’t pregnant, because that would mean I’d have to try to find homes for a bunch of mix-breeds

Well she is sure acting pregnant. it’s about a week until she is due, but she is acting much more grumpy and growls softly when I go see her, which she never has growled at me before.

Yea that sounds about right or it could just be a false pregnancy you never know

It’s not just you though I’ve heard of rabbits being found in other rabbits cages before it’s a mystery but it does happen. I wish all goes well if she does have babies

Yup, it doesn't take them long at all, does it? I think that rabbits have magic, actually. So they can levitate, they can pass through solid objects, they can pull themselves into a flat 2-dimensional shape that can slip through wire cages. And they can look at you, read your mind, yet act entirely innocent of any questionable behavior. Yah, sure!

Let us know if she does get babies!!! Wow I would imagine it hard to get pregnant a 4 year old doe if she’s never had babies before...
