Well our vet apt. went so way wrong!! :( our male Californian Meat is in sad shape his cuts look good but some how he has an infection so cant get fixed till that's all cleared up, our female Californian Potatoes is so old apparently he doesn't know how shes alive???? he doubts she would survive a spay :eek:ldman:, our Rex male Oreo has been fixed with no probs, and last but not least our female Rex Shaniqua has a respiratory issue that needs to be better before they can fix her :imsick: sigh but after paying that bill I think I'll be waiting till I can save up, $300.00 is a lot of money!! At 99.00 a bunny Im thinking I may just have 4 cages and no together time EVER!!! :sigh: Thankfully the hubby got some more work, the union hall has been slacking on electrical work lately so hopefully we can pick back up on the perfecting of buntopia! :construction Im working on a part of the back yard containing the outside cages and play area but have it look like a cute old shack with a yard and rocking chairs lol and the chicken wire along the top covering and enclosing it all in will look beautiful once I get enough honeysuckle to grow all over it right, now if only I could grow something more then dandelions rofl!! :roflmao:

Let me see if I've got this right.....

Meat (m)- can't be neutered until his infection is cleared up

Potatoes (f)- is too old to be spayed

Oreo (m) - has been neutered

Shaniqua (f) - has to overcome her respiratory issue before spaying.

Seems like Meat would be the one you should focus on if you choose to.
If you can get hisinfection cleared upand then get him neutered, you wouldn't have to worry about having little baby buns running around.

Shaniqua should be spayed for health reasons. If there's no intact males around, you have time to get her healthy and then spayed.

If Potatoes is too old then let her be. She can't have babies if the only males around are neutered.

To add it up....get Meat healthy and neutered to avoid baby buns.....and get Shaniqua healthy and spayed once her respiratory issue has been resolved.

One step at a time....concentrate on Meat's neuteringfirst.
Work on getting Shaniqua's respiratory issue cleared up at the same time.

Yes? No?

ROFL duh you guy's it was a little healthy venting and to give a general update but Meat is the first on the list of get healthy but Im more the kind of gal who says ok fam. lets cinch the belt one of the family is in need so no dogie treats for a while and no new teenager make up and hey mom is going without those super cute new flats she wants but trust me it will be worth it. Im not stupid I keep them apart.but the cost is just a little surprising to me such a small animal who knew the price for keeping them healthy was so big. but don't worry I got this.

We know you got it. In your original post you sounded overwhelmed so I think JimD was just trying to break it down to make it less overwhelming for you. I seriously doubt anyone was thinking you are stupid :)

Godd luck with all that, I hope the bunnies get better soon so they can have their neuters and spays.

It's good to have some healthy venting. Just good people here who rush to help the best way they know how.

My suggestion next time just start out. "This is just healthy venting. Thanks for listening! Needed just to let off steam!"

It is surprising how expensive it can be just to keep bunnies healthy. But then again, just look how expensive it is to keep yourself healthy. Know all about large expensive health care bills. It's just the sign of the times.

Wishing you luck with your buns. Know you have everything under control.

K:)

Correct me if I'm wrong, But did you say your paying 99$ a rabbit for spay/neuter? If so, I'm incredibly jealous.
I called around here and the best I can do is 180$... I'm still doing it of course, but !!!! As much as I love little buns, for my next, I will be adopting an already fixed rabbit because that hurts the wallet when you're already on a tight budget so I feel your pain!

Hope you get Meat and Shaniqua on the mend soon!!
