I thought I could've lost Berri today. I wentout to het her about an hour and a half ago and i brought her into thehouse. I had her sitting on my knee and then I realised i was coveredin blood!

I turned Berri over and there was blood pouring out of her foot, I haveno idea how she cut it, it's not a very big mark but it must've beendeep. :(

Of course I panicked and put pressure on it to try and stop thebleeding. My mum and dad are away at a wedding so i'm here alone. I wasrunning around trying to find the phone and keep pressure on the wound,so the floors were all covered in blood, I found it and called mum, shecouldn't understand a word I was saying though, I was inhysterics.:bawl:

Eventually the bleeding stopped and Berri started washing the wound. She's in the house still and i brought the other two in as well, but Iswear i thought she was going to die, i was probably over reacting, buti do tend to do that a lot.:tongutwo:

Anyway I just thought I'd let you all know! She's alright now and I'll be watching to make sure it doesn't start again:nurse:

You did the right thing by applying pressure tothe wound. You will want to keep an eye on the cut to make sure itdoesn't become infected. A little polysporin (not polysporin plus!)might help it heal.

I'll move this to the infirmary.

I'm glad everything is okay now.

I suggest taking a real goodthrough look around to see whatshe may have cut herself on so it doesn't happen again. Could there bea loose cage wire or sharp edge exposed in her cage/hutch??

Thanks Jordiwes:)

She's sleeping in the house tonight so I can watch her. I'll checktomorrowand see if I can find anything she cut it on, nopoint in doing it now it's getting dark (and Pebble and Ebony aresleeping in the house too!:D)

So she slept in the house (and so did Pebble andEbony!:colors:) and there doesn't seem to be anything more wrong withher. The cut is beginning to heal over and I don't think it's hurtingher anymoe either so all's good.:D

Ohh i'm sorry to hear what happened, that must have been a huge scare for you:shock:

glad to hear that she's doing ok though:)

Thanks for the update!

A dab of Neosporin will help it heal and keep it from getting infected.

Nope LuvaBun, i looked all over their house andI found nothing that could've caused it! I'm really confused! Maybe shecut it with her own nail or something, but I don't really know how thatwould work.:?At least it isn't infected oranything:)

Wow. Thats pretty scary. Good thing you noticed.
Is it really a cut on her foot? When I first started reading I thoughtit may have been that she broke a toenail. Those things bleed likecrazy.

I have a french lop who is deaf, and I have to be careful on how Iapproach his cage so he knows i'm there and he doesn't flip out. Iusually approach real slow and give the cage a little shake, then Ihave to slowly wave my hand in front of the door, then I can let himsee my face and he's ok. The one day I just kind of forgot to do thatand he flipped out and ripped off an entire toenail. There was....a LOTof blood. But he's ok.

A while back at the Washington show I made friends with two girlssitting next to me. The one girl just bought a little lop and when shewas away I noticed it was dripping blood into the carrier. So I took itout and it's toenail, the entire thing was just hanging there by a tinypiece of skin and the quicl was sticking out. I held him and cleanedhim up a bit and put a napkin on his toe to help it clot and waited forher to come back. She was in a panic too but I assured her he'd be ok.

We removedthe toenail, I was afraid it would just catch on somethinglater and become a problem, and the sharp edges of the base of thetoenail kept slashing at the exposed part.

um...

The End.

JAK it's definitely not her toenail, that's whatI thought at first but all her toes are ok and you can see where it'shealing over (She's a rex by the way, she had sore hocks, they seem tobe healing now but ther is stilllittle bald patches on herfeet but they don't hurt her or anything, the fur is just taking awhile to grow back, this probably means it will take longer!:()

Thanks for your concern anyway;), yourpoor little frenchie!
