I know lots of people who are not animal lovers and cannot relate to animals but they are excellent with people and children.
Our rabbits "help" us clean all the time, it makes the job 10 times the work and much longer. There are days when I am just not in the mood and I am snippy with our buns, I will swat them them out of the area. I am not hurting them and I think they think it is a game. I know I am far more gentle at correcting them, then are to each other.
I would not be okay with with holding her entire week of pay either.
I agree with you and the post after yours. The yelling and cussing probably scared her more then being smacked on the butt. I wouldn't press charges, because it is a waste of time. There is no proof, only your word against hers and since she is not physically injured and you have no photo or video evidence they can't do anything. I kind of disagree about her possibly abusing her kids because she smacked Fraggles on the butt a bit. I live in a rural area, and the people here just don't view animals very highly, and have no problem kicking their dog in the butt or hitting a cow really hard with a stick, yet they wouldn't lay a finger on their kids. Now, if she was being totally viscious about it and trying to actually cause harm and kicking and smacking the bunny with her full force, I'd be concerned.
