Snowflake is eating & drinking normally, also acting normally (flops, binkies, etc) but for the last 4 days I have found what are either unformed cecotropes or odd poops like 3-5 per day. I’ll spare you a photo but they are long smooth dark, a little mushy but still formed. His regular poops are golden and look the same.

We already stopped fruit, he is still getting romaine 2x a day. I also started him on probiotics this am (sprinkled on the lettuce)

He’s currently shedding A LOT and he was neutered on May 2nd not sure if these could be factors. The only times we have seen this 1) the first 3-4 days we brought him home as a baby 1.5yrs ago and 2) he’ll drop some poops like this for 1/2 a day when we get back from vacation away from him.

Any insight? Solution?

Any diet changes, changes in your rabbits life, or unusual stressors before you started seeing this? Are his fecal balls a normal round shape and size, or are they consistently irregularly shaped and sized at all?

No diet changes (although I am now realizing he got a new box of hay?) same brand/type.

The only “stressors” I can think of is that he was neutered 5 weeks ago I was wondering if the changes in hormones could be impacting or the fact that’s he started shedding (although I don’t know if that bothers him)

His other poops look the same

I recalled when my older rabbit went through a heavy shed, she had GI stasis the next day and recovered after constant care. She also acted normally but was laying around a little more! Just keep your eyes on them and hopefully you will see normal poop coming soon! I fed my bunny high fiber branches and she produced nice dry poops after her more wet, post-gi stasis poops! Also, I am new on this site. Can someone tell me how to write up a new post? Thank you so much!

If it keeps happening, it could have to do with the new hay. Is this new box of hay any different in quality or cut(eg. softer, same, more coarse, greener, brown, etc). If you start seeing changes to the fecal poop where it's becoming irregularly shaped and sized on a consistent basis as well, there could be something more going on than a simple digestive upset.

He’s thankfully still eating normally, but I will keep an eye out. It interesting his other poops seem fine.

It’s a new box same brand, type (Small Pet Select Timothy 2nd Cut) doesn’t look or feel different to me. I’ll keep an eye on everything, I can bring him to the vet if anything changes. Thank you!

We’re seeing a reduction the last 2 days 2-3 compared to 3-5 so hopefully whatever it was/is is improving. I have continued with the probiotics and no fruits

Everything had went back to normal but I think I found the culprit, we were giving him organic freeze dried blueberries as a treat. Just got a notification from Amazon they were recalled due to high lead 😢😳

That's not good 😲 Hopefully it was minimal. Just enough to cause some minor digestive upset, but not enough to cause serious health problems.

I know, so crazy! We had already stopped giving them thankfully and it was only for about 3 weeks that he had them in small quantities
