I can't believe it either. Another thing that puzzles me is how dumbthis flock is....no lie. Our other batches have all been generally"intelligent."

If i leave open the hutch door, they spread their wings half open overthe side, peer over, keep peering, keep peering, and then loose theirbalance and tumble to the ground....i can't even leave the door openfor a second! They are also very skittish, i don't know why, i guessit's because they just aren't used to humans since we didn't start themin the basement...oh, well, they'll mellow out when they begin to layand i start checking them over a couple times a week...

ANYWAYS, they're are really the most beautiful chickens we've ever had, such beautiful, vibrant colors...i'm really impressed.

Oh my gosh, really? That's sad. It soundsreally funny but that's sad. So far only two of them thrilled to see meoutside of supper time. Mystery loves her mom and Peepers. I need tostart handling them more. Jeremy was helpingbut he got tiredof being pooped on.

I posted pics of mine in Apollo's thread. I can't get over howmuch yours have grown. I still have little pip squeaks lol. I love thecolors on yours. They are very pretty.

Its been so long since I've seen a bunch of babychicks! When i was younger I used to show them in4-H! We ordered from Murray Mc Murray and got like 30 orso..of the bantam kind. If you want them as pets bantams arethe way to go because they are smaller than the other ones. Iliked the ones that looked like they had fur they were really soft andvery pet like! As for sexing them i thought it was prettyeasy all you do is look at the comb the ones with larger combs are mostlikely male..and smaller combs are female. Thats just mypersonal experience and it always worked for me! Good luckwith your babys they look wonderful and happy!:)

Whatever she's feeding them, she needs to get apatent on it.:p I just love how their coloring gets deeperand more varied as they get older.

Jenni- each time you feed them you have to saythe same cue whatever that is. In the evening if they've been out inthe yard i normally iwll just herd them in--they get the picture andthen go in without a fuss.

I can't believe how fast they grew!!!That's nuts. They will be full grown chickens before you knowit. LOL

When I went to get Sampson, they had like 200 or 300chickens. I got quite the chicken education thatday. I swear some of them were huge. I honestlydidn't know there were that many types of chickens. They showthem and some were so pretty. And the roosters....they justcrow and crow. LOL When they were showing them tome, they kept finding eggs.

Okay, I've noticed that the sounds that theymake have changed from soft "peeps" to a "treetreetreetree" soundespecially when they are going to sleep. Is that the chickenpurring sound or are they trying to cluck?

THey're voices are simply changing.......I canmake the mature hen sound(s) and crow VERY well, people have confusedme for a chicken if they walk up to the barn and i'm inthere"talking" to the birds.....the mature hen will sound something likethis(with the "c" barely noticable):

brrcbrrrrcbbbrrrrrcc(it gets faster and more demanding)

then: bougbougbroug(like a "bak" but more chickeny)

..............................my oh, my.......how i do sound likeanut, if i ever meet any of you in person i shalldemonstrait......at least i know what i'm talking about and that's allthat counts...right?LOL
