is a pain in the tush :p. I am trying to rebuild all four bunny's cages today, to make better space of their room. I just got Morgan's done and I am tired, lol.

It's wierd how much you have to bend and twist your arms & body to attatch zip ties....while the bunny just sits there and looks at you like you are really odd.

Ugh, I probably have 4 more hours left of rebuilding :bunnydance:!

Gosh, tell me about it! I finally got round to making our buns permenant homes last Sunday, took me 6 hours start to finish! My fingers got blisters from 'popping' all the connectors and 'zipping' all the cable ties!

It's nice to see the results of your handiwork when it's done though... I always think how small it looks until it's done and then they look massive!

NIC cages ROCK! :D

Good luck!

Oh I know! What a pain! They are so great though.. hehe!

My hands get so sore toowith those darn connectors, they never want to snap into place!

Aggg tell me about it! I never want to have to build another cage, but I'd love to redesign Maddie's cage over the summer. I remember I was determined to build her cage on the first night when I (finally!) got my grids, stayed up to 1 or 2 in the morning... Worth it though, when you see the result and the happy bunny. :D

You'll have to share pictures when you're finished, Amy! :)

Yes! Pictures definately needed! I love seeing other people's cages!

And Michaela, I know how you mean, when we first got grids, I was up til 5am  building!!

I took a 15 minute break and I am about to go in and start on Brody's cage...and then I will be done. I decided not to mess with Benson's cage because he is old and I don't think he could get onto the second floor and back down for water and stuff. I think he is developing a cataracts in the other eye...so he will be fully blind soon, I am guessing :?.

The good thing about my new cages, I looked at them for a while and figuered out that I would only have to take apart some of the cage and not the whole thing. I am sooo glad I didn't have to start from scratch!

I made them smaller and I hate the 1x2 (tall) NIC door....it's hard to reach into the cage, but it should work out because the room will have more play-time space now...and I will be able to fit a huge rat cage in there in a few months :).

Pictures will come when I finish in a little bit :biggrin2:.

I have to admit, I'd love to redo Elf's cage, as well, but I think she's pretty much set in her ways and I shouldn't mess with it. I'd love to see photos, too!

Here is the OLD room set-up:

Here is the NEW set-up:

Well, I could only snap two pictures before my battery pack died in the camera. So, you only get two pictures for now :p.

I like how the room is now. There is more space in there by making the rabbit cages smaller and only having cages on two walls, instead of three. Now all the cages form an "L" shape around the room. When I get my new giant rat cage when it is released (in a few months?)...then I will have to find a good spot for it.

Morgan, Marlin, and Brody's cage is in this picture. I like to keep their cages in order of how they always are because they already know their "neighbor", so I don't like switching up the order...no musical bunnies over here!:

To the right in those pictures, along the other wall...it Benson's cage and the rat cages. I think once I get my new huge rat cage, I will have to put it along the other wall....it is going to be a very large cage.

Wow I likies! it all looks so nice and clean and tidy and spacious very lucky bunners you have!I like your wall colour too its nice and calm feeling:)

Thanks, guys :biggrin2:!

Pep....it's so clean thanks to me new heavy duty shop vac. I LOVE my shop vac and I would probably be lost in bunny poo without it.

Michaela...you'll get a bunny room someday :D!

Way to go Amy! I had been wondering why you were redoing all that work because it looked great before but now I get it :biggrin2:I think it's awesome that you have such a room :biggrin2:

Wow! That looks great! Sooo tidy as well... May sound like a silly question, but what is a shop vac? Do you hoover bunny poo? Our hoover gets clogged up if we do, so I'm just FOREVER sweeping! :sweep

They have so much space when they're out to play as well...

Our living room is our 'bunny room'- their cages are against one wall, but I wanted to save on grids so I made the 2 cages 'stuck together', so they just have the one grid separating them. I thought it might be a problem, but they seem to like to rub noses through the grids! :biggrin2:

Anyway, rambling now... it looks great! :)

LOL! I really needed that laugh Mouse_chalk. For those of you across the pond a shop vac isa wet/dry cannister hoover that you can buy at B&Q.

Underfire that is a very nice set up. Someday I'll have a ferret/bunny room.

Absolutely love your bun room (are those ceramic tiles on the 2nd levels?)- that is one of the best I've seen and would kill to give Baxter! he's own room - would solve so many problems at home; and then I could get him a friend :).

I too love my shop Vac; I purchased one at Home Depot for a whopping $28 that is fantastic! Very basic, but at least it doesn't clog from the hay like my regular vacuum did. Mine also came with a "blower" so now I can clean off all my patio's that way without having to drag out the hose and waste water..

Thanks, you guys. I definitely love my bunny/rat room, too. It makes things so much easier because hay isn't all over our bedroom anymore...or rat poopies...lol.

I got my shop vac from The Home Depot for $40, I think it's a 6 gallon. I have cleaned the bunny room 3 times now and still haven't had to clean out bucket on the vac :). With my old 1 gallon, I was changing the bucket 3 times during one cleaning.

The tiles on the second floor are sticky lino tiles, that I stuck to a peice of cheap wood board, then used sticky tape to tape that to a NIC panel.

The room will be complete once I get my massive rat cage :biggrin2:.

probably a novice question, but are there ramps in your nic cages? the cage our bunny came with (which is too small) has a horrible ramp in it that he falls off of, but the opening is narrow so he can't just hop to the upper level. are the nic cages set up so they can just hop to the 2nd level? i can't tell in the pictures...probably because i don't have my contacts in ;)
thanks :D

I'd wondered that to. I think the answer is no.. from what i can see in the pics!

Fran :) :hearts :brownbunny

From what I can see in the pics, I don't think Amy uses ramps (sorry to answer for you Amy!), but I can tell you that I don't use them, mainly because my bunnies can jump up there very easily! The grids are 14 inches high/wide I think, so it's not too high for them to jump....

:)
Jen xx

thank you for answering :)
we're going to pick up panels as soon as we can and i just want to make sure we know what we're getting into...
now i know to expect a pain in the butt at least ;)
but it definitely seems worth it :biggrin2:
