It will probably take mom a while to get used to people again. I would suggest handling the babies lots, so they get used to people. When I have foster babies, I take them out when I'm watching TV in the evenings, and snuggle them on my lap.

In about 6 weeks you will need to seperate the rabbits by sex, so you'll need a second cage/enclosure. Take a look at this thread for some really neat do-it-yourself cages that many of our members have made:http://www.rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=15348&forum_id=21
Building a couple of those will save you lots of $$...

Also take a look through here for info on working with shy bunnies:http://rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=12060&forum_id=17

You are an amazing person. Not many people would go that far at all. Hats off to you bunny angel.

all rabbits are doing great...mom is eating snaks out of my hand and does not jump when I pet her head.

where do these rabbits like to be petted? between the ears?

Thanks Bob

Yay! :bunnydance:I would try between the eyes, back towards the ears, that is my bunny's sweet spot. You'll be able to tell if they like something, they gently grind their teeth. It is called a tooth purr. If you don't hear anything, you may feel it through her head. Sounds like the poor girl just needs some time to trust people again.

Have you caught the other bunnies?

No I have not caught the other 2...I think they live down the street..The daddy was snooping around the new cage but was too smart for my trap..lol

yeah, they can be sneaky. They learn to be veryc areful in order to survive...so they dont know when to trust us even when we're trying to help.

I would try putting out food and water in the same place every day. Hopefully you can gain their trust.

You might try putting your hands in the food dish and getting your smell on the food, so when they smell the actual you, they will think of that yummy food you left out. I know it works with dogs. You also might not try to catch them when you see them, so they won't run as soon as they see you.

Have you thought about getting some live traps? It would be a good way to catch them without being there. Maybe your local SPCA would bring you some?

Quick Update

all 6 rabbits are doing great. Mom climbs up on the cage to greet me when I come out to see them. I put them in a metal dog cage so the run around on the grass, all of them eventually got out but stayed close so I gathered them up and made the cage bunny proof. Mom jumped over but did not run away she let me catch her.

I haven't seen the others in a few days.

Wow I just read this thread right now! You are absolutely an awesome person for doing all that for those poor babies!!!!!

:bunnydance:Jules

I'm so glad they found you!
