As all of you may know, I have a pair of steel Mini Lops at the moment. Well I decided to expand my lines, considering I only have 2 adults & a litter of 6 kits at the moment.

Please critique them :3

I'm getting the following buns from Rich at Joe-Kerr Rabbitry, my deposit is sent in& we will be meeting him at a show in New York on June 4th.

Joe-Kerr's Aidan - Broken Chestnut Agouti Junior Buck

I'll wait to see what others say. I'm assuming you're not going to be crossing in the agoutis with the steel though...am I right?

Steels are agoutis, and you do want to cross steel w/ chestnut because steel x steel gives homozygous poorly colored dark steels. This applies to most breeds, except for possibly the Flemish steel which is theorized to possibly be a bad chin rather than a true steel because it doesn't exhibit the normal steel characteristics.

In the first photo, the rabbit appears to be very weak in the hindquarters. Could you post shots from all angles (rear view, top view)

I do not have them yet, but I can ask Rich for more pics :3
The lady from Milkhouse lops told me that it's best to breed steel to steel, but I will go by what you say :3 !

You can find references to steel breeding from a number of sources including Rabbit Production "It is the EsE heterozygote that is believed to be the genotype of the ideal steel."

This effect is due to the fact that the steel genes darkens the coat - too much when inherited homozygously. In some cases, producing only a tiny patch of steel color or very little ticking. Ese is also an undesirable combination, but not common in Mini Lops.
