Houdini was so sad I couldn't bear it. He wouldn't eat or groom himself. He sat around moping, which is not like him at all. I took him to meet a couple girls. He didn't like Pepper very well, but when Sophie came on the scene, he perked up. He started to groom himself and snuggled up beside her.

Sophie is a flemish/new zeland mix, about 4 years old. I don't think she is spayed, but the vet can tell us more hopefully. She was a house rabbit but then she grew too big, they gave her to a farmer, who gave her to the rescue.

Aww, so cute! Glad to know that Houdini seemed to like her! She doesn't look too big in the pics, could we get a pic of her with Houdini maybe to compare sizes?

Oh Brandy, she's lovely.

Houdini is a very lucky Bunny. Are thet actually living together already? Or do you have them separated?

Welcome home Sophie, you are one very lucky bunny.

Susan:)

I think she is about 12 pounds, but I need to get her on a scale. She has a check-up with the vet on Thursday. Houdini looks rather small next to her.

They are living in his space together. A big advantage is that there is ample room to run around and no one can get cornered very easily. We can hear what is going on in my office from the livingroom and we checked on them regularly. There was a wee bit of chasing, Houdini wanted to hump her. Then he would turn around and groom her. This morning when I went in to give them breakfast they were stretched out side by side :)

Bonding really is much easier when you let them pick their own mates. Sophie is much more comfortable with Houdini than us at this point. I don't want to stress her too terribly. I did cut her nails last night because they were horribly long. I took at least 1/2 inch off each nail other than the three that were broken, two of which were bleeding :(

I think Sophie is going to like our house. I can already tell she is going to be a daddy's girl. He is quite smitten with her.

Aw she is very pretty, if you're worried about size match. Don't! :) I saw a pair of bonded rabbits one was a netherland dwarf and the other a new zealand..
Well wishing you best of luck! :)

My husband just told me that when he went to check on them they were both in the burrow box laying together. I don't think it will be hard to get a shot of them together tonight. The red in her fur goes so nicely with the cream and reddish highlights in his fur. You would think that a person color coordinated them LOL.
