Just wanted to tell everyone that a dwarf female that came into my rescue about 1 month ago justgave birth today. She is around 2 years old and came in pregnant. I was really thinking it was a false pregnancy since she made a nest 2 weeks ago.

She has three really cute babies, one is dark in color and the other two are pink. Can't wait to see what colors they turn out to be. I did not get pictures yet because she is a really bitchy rabbit and wouldn't let mego near them. I will get some in a few days.

Just so you know mom is a grey color, I will get pictures of her also.

I did have one question, She had one baby outside the nest that wasn't fully formed. had no head, and was flat, could see a ribcage but that is it and the skin was a light pink/white color. What do you think it was? just a really unformed kit?

I am going to go check on them this afternoon when I get out of work, hopefully they survived the night, it was kind of cold. I will get pictures of them tonight and mom. The female is a real bitch though and lunges and growls at me all the time whenever i put my hand in her cage. Hopefully she will let me look at them.

Adorable :inlove:I'd have to say that baby 1 is a solid black. 2 is a blue tort. 3 possibly some sort of tort as well? Maybe a fawn as Emily said?

New Pictures

What do you guys think their coloring is? You can see it better now.

I'm gonna say Orange for that last baby. Either that, or a very dark, very rich Fawn. ;)

Sam, I've had a fawn kit out of a Black VM before, but mom was a Fawn Harlequin. Is that able to happen? I'm just confused because neither mom nor dad was Agouti, but they had a fawn kit.

Most harlequins are agouti, if they are not then they are usually called torted harlequin. If it is fawn or orange it is agouti.

A proper black/orange harlequin: A-B-C-D-eje

A tort/black harlequin: aaB-C-D-eje

The "A" is the agouti gene, which is dominant.
