Mystery illness. Buns present with thick weepy eyes, abdominal pain, lethargy. Have been to 2 different vets and numerous tests and medications. Have had buns pass away from it. Have no idea what is happening.😭

Myxomatosis was ruled out?

I'm very sorry for your loss and what you're going through with your rabbits. I would suspect myxo too. It is unusual in the US, but when it does happen, it's mostly in the west coast states, primarily California. But it's always possible it can occur outside of the state, especially in states nearby.

Though depending on what exactly is going on with the eyes, if there isn't facial swelling around the eyes going on, maybe it isn't myxo but has to do with RHDV. Weepy eyes wouldn't be a symptom of RHDV, but internal pain would be, as would sudden death. So maybe the weepy eyes is a secondary effect.

Because myxo and RHDV are unusual diseases in the US, it's possible some vets aren't experienced enough to recognize the symptoms. Based on your description and sudden death occurring, those would be what I would strongly suspect. Unless there is some other new highly contagious disease going around.

I’d guess the sickness might be “Snuffles”, look it up and you’ll get more information

Perhaps the best course would be to either find a different vet, and/or inform one (or both) of your other vets that you suspect it could be either RHVD or myxo. If they have that info, at least they could research and re-assess. If it is indeed one of those 2 viruses, then they are (I believe) supposed to inform some state agency or FDA.
