Well, it's great that you are trying. I hope you don't take it too personally. I would think what he dislikes most is captivity, not you, not any particular person. If you are the one doing most of the maintenance, then it is no surprise that he is most aggressive towards you. My aggressive one is most aggressive towards me, but I think it's because I'm the intrusive one who grooms her and cleans their house.
I hope you continue to do whatever you can for him, and don't give him up unless you are sure he will have more freedom than what you are able to provide. Imagine how miserable he would be if he had to be in a little cage all the time. At least you have the pen.
