Oh wow! That doesn't look bad at all! It looks like a very neat job. Did the vet say how it will heal- will he always have a bit of a funny shape there or will it heal over completely and look normal?

Shadow is such a trooper, bless him! I'm so glad he's ok :)

It looks great! I hope it continues to heal well!

I think Shadow's doctor did a great job with the surgery and getting him back to you safe and sound! :D

Now all Shadow needs are good vibes for a speedy healing and some common sense not to stick his nose through the wires anymore.... :p

Get better quick, Shadow!!!! :bunnyhug:

Thanks! Yes, I think the vet did a great job :).
Jen, she said it should heal fine, and she's hoping that when the swelling goes down, you won't be able to notice much at all.

Shadow is doing great. I gave him all your kisses and best wishes, and he thanks you all ;). He is bouncing around nearly as much as normal, and eating everything I put in front of him (no change there)! He wasn't happy about taking his meds this morning, but when he realised he was getting 'nana after it, he was more willing :D.

The vet called this afternoon, just to check on how he was doing, and if there were any problems.

Oh, and Myheart, he has 'thought' about sticking his nose near the cage, but stops short of putting it through :p

LOL ... I am soooo glad he learned his lesson!!! Shadow is a smart lil' cookie, isn't he?!!!

What a great thing for your vet to give a follow-up phone call. That'svery thoughtful and comforting to know they cared enough to make sure Shadow is getting along well. :D

Shadow says thanks for the extra banana (so does Jester - I can't give to one without the other, right?) ;)

Today is the last day of his meds - and after the first day, he decided he likes the taste and has taken them no problem :). His nose looks good - stitches still there, swelling going down - still a bit hairless, though!

He seems to have more life in him, for some reason. He is throwing toys around, and charging around and playing in the sand box like a mad thing. Perhaps he thinks his nose job has improved his looks :tonguewiggle. And ..... I may be imagining it (or wishful thinking) but Jester doesn't seem so aggressive towards him at the moment, like he knows that he shouldn't attack his nose again :expressionless

How is Shadow now? Is there a follow up check with the vets or has it healed completely?

I hope Shadow and Jester are making progress and not trying to hurt each other.

Thanks for asking, Stan. We go back on Monday for a check up (not Dr Steele as she is away for a few days). It doesn't look like the stitches have dissolved, so they will just snip them out.

Shadow hasn't bothered about them at all. In fact, he has become the trouble maker, and keeps boxing at Jester through the cage. So much so, that I have stopped letting them be in the same room in the afternoon, as I'm worried one of them gets hurt. Seems like they have taken a step backwards :(. They are both craving attenion all the time, and it seems like I am spending most of my free time trying to keep them happy. Also, Shadow is going through a horrendous molt at the minute - he looks so patchy, and the fur is coming out in handfuls. I guess it's with the change in weather.

I shall let everyone know how it goes on Monday :)

Which Doctor had the honor to treat Shadow? Did it cause any pain to remove the stitches? Is there anything you have to do post check-up?

Everything went great, thanks :)!
Only one of the 3 stitches was left in, and the vet (I think it's was Dr Simmons :?) just gently pulled it out. She said his nose looks great, and that Dr Steele had done a wonderful job :).

Shadow was such a good boy, and she was very impressed with him - said what a nice, well behaved bunny he was :p. There was a little Daschund there, that had a doggy wheel brace for his back end, and his owner said he loved rabbits. He and Shadow touched noses and the dog licked him - it was a real cute moment :).

We don't have to go back again, but she did warn about being careful when he is out in the sun, in case his nose gets burned. She said he would probably just lick any sunblock off. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd like to hear them :)

ps - I shall try and get an updated photo later on

That is a bummer, especially when it it getting so nice and warm outside. I know you wanted to get the bunnies outside since they were coped up in the house all winter. Maybe Shadow's nose will harden a bit and some fur will grow back so the sun won't be that bad for him.
