Jan did everything she could to prevent things like this. She has the stairs blocked off, but Jester still manages to jump over or get through the barriers and go up to Shadows room. Even when there are bars preventing the two at each other, Shadow still keeps poking his nose through the bars where Jester can get at it.

Aww! Poor little nosie!

Don't feel too bad though, sillybunnies don't get that they shouldn't put their noses in dangerous situations! :)Ask Georgie that, who when he was still at the shelter, repeatedly stuck his nose through the bars and got it nipped/bit at by other bunnies.. not once.. not twice.. but I think it was three times! Little daredevil!

I hope Shadow's nose heals up!

Awww, poor Shadow. :)

I'm sure he'll be totally fine (but I know how hard it is to hand them over when you get to the vets, no matter how routine the surgery).

And.. hmm.. I guess he's met his match huh? I'm just thinking back to poor, sweet Pernod and the beating he gave her!

These bunnies are just meant to keep you hopping Jan!

((HUGS))) I'll be thinking of you on Monday!

Nadia

Hope the surgery goes well and Shadow heals quickly -

Oh, I know it! I didn't mean to seem rude with my comment. :(

I understand that completely! You could have your bunnies in complete lockdown, and they will still find a way to get into something they shouldn't or run into somebun that they shouldn't! :( I understand that accidents do happen, especially with pets. Murphy's Law seems to apply to pets a lot (whatever can go wrong, will go wrong!)

Good luck with Shadow! Give him lots of head pets! :clover:

Aww, poor Shadow, and poor you Jan!

Don't feel bad- We have been there too. Poor Snowy's ear, it got torn once, and then torn again when they managed to escape from their cages and fight again after the Great Divorce. And THEN a few days later she got a nip on the nose- just a scratch but it was furless for a few weeks until it healed. It's near impossible to keep bunnies apart sometimes if they REALLY want to get to each other! (Although, I agree, Jester looks way too innocent to do something like that! :p)

Also, when Chalk first met Snowy, way back when, she got a scratch on her shoulder. We took her to the vets about 2 days later because we thought it was nothing at the time, and she had to be shaved there. Turns out that a scab had formed sticking out of the wound that was stopping it healing- the vet just pulled it off and it was fine within a few days. Sounds like ona smaller scale to what is happening to Shadow.

I am sure he'll be ok with his surgery- I will be thinking about you guys!

I've got a mean bunny too. It's so upsetting when they hurt each other because you love the mean bunnies and the nice bunnies too. Sometimes it's their goal in life to bite each other. Besides, Jester is just too cute! I hope Shadow gets better soon.

Thank you all for your support. It's a big help :)

Nadia, yes, Pernod came off worse against Shadow, but, again, it was her that started it :rollseyes. What is it with small bunnies and their BIG attitude towards the big guys???

Shadow is great in himself - even a few binkies today in his sand box. But Monday is getting closer, so he's getting extra lovings. Of course, that means Jester has to get extra as well ;)

Jan

Heh! Radar has a nose like that too. (What is it about black bunnies? ) He stuck it in a girl named Cookie's cage at the shelter, and she practically bit off. Radar's reaction? He stuck in back in again! ("Is that your final answer? Are you sure you don't wanna be my gf?")

I'd say give Shadow a nose pat for me, as usual, but not a good idea!! (Radar's is long-since healed--albeit with the flap up--but he's still very sensitive about anybody getting near it).

Jester has his share of battle scars too. You can see where his ear was bit, and has some tear, but it has healed fine.

Aww just seeing this now! We've been there too... Lollipop stuck his nose quickly into innocent, gets along with everybunny Bob's cage and he grabbed Lolli's nose. It healed up just fine. Sometimes kids, will be kids you know. You are a great mommy it was just one of those things. I hope Shadow's nose heals up well!

OK, so my boy is at the vet now :nerves1. They gave him a pre-op check over, and said they'd phone me later.

I took him some hay and pellets, and some of his favourite treats - banana, craisins and salad. Oh, and also Nelly, his cuddly stuffed elephant :).

My poor baby - wonder how he'll look without a nose :(

Jan

Oh Jan, I'll be thinking about the two of you today.

I'll say a prayer for Shadow that he heals quickly and one for you too, that you aren't too stressed.
