My buck is trying to mate a boy male sexually why??

Hi , I have a boy and girl who mated and the girl is now pregnant, today I brought home a new boy bunny who is 10 weeks old . I put my boy and the new boy together in a neutral inviorment so that they can bond , my boy ( not the new one )
Started mating him but it wasn’t dominant it was sexual, My new boy had semen all over his back and bottom . And I’m positive the new bun is a boy I checked him and he has testicles so for . not sure if he is just confused as he is used to mating my girl ?

Hi! Your male might be confused with gender but the wholesale process is natural. Most bunnies (given the chance) will try to produce babies so dont worry!

You should not try to bond unneutered male rabbits. It is dangerous to attempt to do so. Male rabbits will almost always fight, and these fights can be vicious. They will attempt to eviscerate and kill one another. Now your young one is a baby still, is vulnerable, and is the likely one to end up severely injured or dead. PLEASE, do not put them together again. Best case, you end up with non fatal injuries and a HUGE vet bill. Worst case, you end up with a dead rabbit.

Male rabbits are non discriminatory when it comes to mating. They will attempt to mate male/female, rabbit/non rabbit, living creature/inanimate object, it doesn't matter with them. And when one male gets sick of the other male trying to do this, all hell will break loose.

If you want to attempt bonding, do it properly. Keep the rabbits separate. Neuter both rabbits. You even have a rabbit specific vet clinic there in Melbourne. Wait the 8 weeks for hormones to fade. Then attempt the proper bonding process. But even then, there are no guarantees they will like each other and bond. Rabbits chose who they like, and it's all about compatible personalities.

My boys got into the same pen around 5 months..: scar under the eye blood everywhere bite marks everywhere and about a inch of the bottom of the smaller guys ear off. Now he only has just over three quarters if his ear
But to make things less gory the bigger guy kicked off the blood of the smaller guy… and then they groomed eachother and touched heads.. I had a camera in there so I saw the whole thing afterwards. Trust me the little guy is still all scarred and that was last year. I am a breeder so I didn’t have them neutered

I can't make your decision for you. It's a choice you have to make. I've already provided my suggestions and opinion. So when making your decision, I suggest you carefully consider the possible risks. Particularly if this 'unaltered bunny that's super chill' is an unaltered male rabbit. If it's a female, it's not as risky, but still there can be a risk.

And something to keep in mind, even an unaltered rabbit that is normally very calm and submissive around people, can suddenly act like a typical hormonal rabbit when put with other rabbits. And this can really annoy those altered rabbits, to have a hormonal rabbit pestering them with constant chasing and humping, which is what eventually can lead to a fight erupting.

Thanks for letting me know . I won’t be putting them back together . I love my buns to much and don’t want anything to happen to them . they did seem kinda friendly towards each other they were grooming each other too .

I did put them and a neutral inviorment and did everything you need to bond a rabbit . ( I’ve bonded 2 foster bunnies before and they did bond )
Didn’t realise you couldn’t even put 2 uneutered males together to see if they will bond . Thanks for your help.

No. Never attempt bonding unless all bunnies have been neutered for at least 8 weeks.
