Hello every bunny parent here! This thread is a little introduction and then some questions and issues. I am a brand new bunny mom but I’ve done research after research preparing for a rabbit before I obtained this rabbit. So let’s get to the part where I got her. I went to 3 different pet stores looking for a rabbit, then I started looking online because I’d rather rescue one, well I ended up trying 1 more pet store...BOOM. The only rabbit they had, she immediately ran to the glass and fell sideways getting up all on her tippy toes, the worker there was saying people have been calling asking if we have rabbits so she wouldn’t be here long, they told us they called her nubby because she’s MISSING a paw. I was shocked! I also love indifferent animals because no one wants a imperfect animal. What was suspicious was they had no information on this rabbit, no gender, no breed, don’t know how her paw just went missing, doesn’t know if she was fixed or anything, so I definitely took her. After a month of having her and doing some bonding I was able to pick her up ONCE and comes to find out she does have all 4 paws just the front one was stinking broken!!!! And it grew back broke. I felt so horrible for her but she didn’t seem bothered by it. Another month went by and I took her to the vet because she started having yellow mucus and she was sneezing and making a bark noise. Taking her to the vet they told me it’s a girl (yaaaaay) she’s not Neutered, she’s less than a year old, and her paw broke when she was baby (probably mishandled), she had a upper respiratory infection but it wasn’t bad YET.

so here we are, me and my Flopsy tripod bunny 4 months later! Shes way more than just 3 lbs now and she’s outgrowing her cage (I have a hutch coming in) she’s a lot better at jumping around and doing her little zoomies she just sometimes looses balance and ends up sliding around on her side. I try to spoil this rabbit rotten with toys and treats and her most favorite GREENS!!!! She has 2 brother dogs and a sister cat, they ALL get along so well.
the fact I have a 3 legged rabbit she’s not that destructive or anything, she’s actually a sweet little girl but she’s independent, she likes to be alone for awhile and then she starts to act out for attention (no problem.) so where her home is at the moment is half of my living room, we never watch tv it’s hard to explain how the living room plays out, but she had a huge area to run and jump and poop and tear things apart. I’ve decided to try to trust her and let her free roam the house, my issues with that is she immediately tries to go under the couch and since she’s grown she gets stuck. I’ve tried blocking under the couch and she just digs it out and throws it to the side. If I put her back in her play pen she starts to rip the play pen apart trying to unhook it to let herself out, she will do this over and over and over. I’ve tried redirecting her attention into treats or a toy, she turns around and she starts nipping at it pulling it back and forth. So I started to just put her in the cage for 10-20 minutes every time I’ve had to say “Flopsy, NO” in a stern voice. I even gently push her nose down and say Flopsy no. She just looks at me crazy and does it again. I want her to be able to freely roam every now and then but it’s a project when she legit does the same thing every time lol, go under the couch, get stuck, rips at the play pen bars. My only conclusion of her acting like this with the play plan is she’s just throwing her fit that she hasn’t had any greens. She’s strictly on a routine so she knows what’s gonna happen, she hasn’t shown any signs of aggression or depression or loneliness, she’s a very happy tripod. I love her to death but I would like some tips on this free roam of her getting stuck under my couch I also would like tips on how I can get her to trust me to let me hold her, rabbits don’t like to be held but I can’t trim her nails or brush her because she back kicks me and she’s already hurt me twice (she apologized for those times) she is getting neutered soon so that’ll stop her pooping marks and peeing and hopefully some other little problems that I know are caused from her not being neutered.

thank you all rabbit parents for reading this and answering anything I’ve asked!! Flopsy is my first rabbit ever and she’s also my first animal that has only 3 paws so I’m not sure if she’s suppose to be needing any special attention or any help with anything, she looks like she’s adapted to only having 3.

She sounds like a sweet bun!

For roaming free, it is critical to bunny-proof. That means any places you don't want her to go must be blocked off. If one method doesn't work, you'll need to get creative to find another method.

For blocking the underside of the couch, it would be helpful to have a photo of the area. Using a 2x4 to place edge-up just under the couch may be an option. Depending on how many sides need blocked, one can attach the 2x4s at the corners to prevent them from being able to be tipped over. Check here for more:

Until she gets spayed, some of her behaviors could be hormonal. She may settle a bit after she's healed. In the meantime, the following video is a great method IF followed very closely and exactly.
