a friend of mine has a bunny that comes bye her house and if you sitfor long enough it lets you pet it. she thinksistame cause of this. she want to bring it in for winter but im not surewhat to tell her. its hard cause the bunny might be abanduned but itmight be a wild bunny. she brouht it in the house and it ran all overand pooped and was scarred.

what do i tell her? its hard cause if she leaves the bunny out it coulddie but if she bringit in it could be really sad andmisrable.

thankyou for helping

What colour is the rabbit? And what does it look like?

Wild rabbits are a light brown colour, and would never come up to a person.

The fact that it lets a person touch it and pick it up leads me tobelieve that it is a domesticated rabbit that was released into thewild.

I would advise your friend to buy or make a cage, and put it in a quietspot in the house. Next time bun comes around, get it intothe cage, and just let it get used to it. Make sure it's gotfood, hay, and water and then leave it alone for the most part.

It will be scared, but will adjust. Then as thebunny gets used to people again, slowly start interacting with it more.

But if this is a domistic rabbit, get it out of the wildASAP. They really do not belong in the wild, and if yourfriend is willing to provide it a home, she will be saving a life!

i will ask her what he look like, i have never seen him

thanks alot for your answer

ive just heard lots of ppl talk about how wild animals is cruel to cage them so i wasnt sure

our winters arent very cold here ether so it wouldnt be too cold for the bunny outside

thankyou!

i just dont get how ppl could abandun there animals like that it makes me so mad :X

she put up lost and found adds all over town too for a few weeks and noone called her :(

I agree that wild animals should stay in the wild, but I also don't think that domesticated animals should live in the wild.

If it is a domesticated rabbit, the best thing to do for it is to houseit indoors again and re-tame it. I'm sure that if it'salready letting someone pet it, it won't be too hard to acclimate thebun to being indoors.

Maybe if your friend could get some pictures, you could post them here, and we could tell you if it looks like a domestic bunny or not.

Hello! :)

It definitely sounds like this bun might have once been a houserabbit! Tell her not to worry about the poops...buns do thatwhen they're trying to establish their scent in a place, and he/she'sjust doing it to feel more comfortable. Thank goodness theirpoops aren't like kitty or puppy poops, and are really easy to pick upand clean! :D

I'd be willing to bet that the bun would be much happier indoors inhis/her own home/cage than out in the wild. I doubt that it'sa "wild" bunny, if only because it actually went IN the house...Iseriously doubt a wild bun would do either that, or let someone evenget near, much less pet it.

I think your friend has a new bunny friend!

Keep us updated as to how things are going with her and the bunny,ok? Also, let her know about the site, or if she doesn't haveinternet access, maybe printing out some articles and site'sinformation would be a good idea, so she knows how to take care of thebun. :) Let us/me know if there's any specificinformation she could use, and we/I can give you the link(s) to thesite(s) with the information. :D

We're here for you, and for her, and for all buns! :)

Hugs to you both!

P.S. Have you heard about NIC cages? They're reallyeasy to make and quite a bit less expensive than prefabcages. This might be something your friend (and maybe evenyou, if you don't have one built already) might be interested inknowing about. Check out the housing thread in the Rabbit 101section for loads of options:

Not much of a dilemma in my eyes. If the bun isa former house rabbit, it should be saved and cared for or at leasttaken to someone who can provide for it. The poor thing has probablyalready had a tough enough time surviving to this point as it is.

My $.02 :)
