Ripley is molting for the first time now, and also lately he's been being extremely moody and tempermental. Like he won't let me hardly hold or touch him without him jumping and scratching like a wild hooligan. :panic: He's driving me crazy-now he's just taken up the new habit of nibbling when he's irritated. Already chewed a hole in a second in a nice shirt of mine this afternoon just because he was sitting on my lap. He was never like this. He's 1 year old and un-neutered. I was going to have him fixed Monday the spay/neuter clinic was having a rabbit fixin day then. But, because he's been such a perfectly behaved bunny up to now, I didn't take him for fear he wouldn't survive surgery (I'm paranoid).

Annyway, long story short, does molting make them irritable and moody or is he just getting grumpy and needs to be fixed?

Molting definitely makes them irritable, although so do hormones.

I'd give him canned pumpkin, always a good thing for the first aid kit and a good preventative medicine for hairy gut issues.

I suggest getting all bunnies used to if they don't like it immediately. (My fussy guys sometimes need it slightly warmed and dried in a paper towel).

EDIT: And to keep the hair at a minimum, I use a warm bowl of water and a roll of paper towels and just keep rubbing the bunny with wet hands, rinsing the hair off the hands with the water, repeat repeat repeat.....

Your first moult and he's a year? Wow, I've had Harvey for a year and man does he moult a lot XD haha.

But to answer your question he can get quite grumpy when he is moulting. He acts like a little butt haha.

Yep, it's the first Molt I've ever seen on him! Our mini rex is always seeming to be molting but Ripley never has. kinda weird.

I'll do the canned pumpkin for both him and Taffy as they're both molting. How much do you give?
