Hi, I can't find an answer to this, so please excuse me for a new thread with my first post. My mini rex has for the first time developed a kind of quilted pattern on his fur, with lines or kind of diamond shapes between various sections. Never had it before.

I wondered if it was something to do with moulting? He was at the vets for a check-up so asked him, mentioning my moulting theory and he just agreed 'yes, probably moulting', not very convincingly. He has also put some weight on recently, due to his companion having to have her feed increased. Could it be anything to do with this? Have tried to take some photos to show it, but they're not great. Has anyone experienced this?

Looks like molting. Those patches are just the old fur in the process of being shed out.

Yes, it's molting. The lighter fur on the sides is the older fur, the darker fur on the top is the new fur; the fur fades a bit over time

Almost certainly moulting patterns. An agouti coloured rabbit I had developed some wonderful patterns and swirls when moulting, and on one occasion had what looked liked three sixes in the fur- we nicknamed him the little devil!
