I need help with MS Excel. My boss wants a spreadsheet with a gantt chart, that will be able to (a) calculate # of days between dates & (b) enter a date plus the number of days projected to get estimated completion date, and have all this relfect in the gantt chart.

I have been able to create a spreadsheet for (a) and one for (b) above. I have no clue if the two can be combined or if there is software that would do it easier.

Any ideas?

My suggestion would be to not use Excel for Gantt charts. There are many programs that are specifically designed to do project planning.

If you have Microsoft project, learn to use it. It has many useful tools.

There are also some free options out there. I can't remember any off the top of my head, but you should be able to find some by doing a google search.

Thanks, MS Project was looked at, but he wanted our sales people to be able to look at the data too. Now MS Project is being looked at again, now after all this time our temporary CEO/President has just told my boss that he has experience with MS Project.

Being the penny pincersthe decision makersare, once they see the cost of the number of licence's needed it will be back toMS Excel.
