I've been posting for a few weeks now but I just realized I never formally introduced my bun! Excuse me if I get too detailed, I am always so overly excited to talk about him 🥰
This is Dr. Cheese! (Informally known as Cheese or Cheesy 😁) The cutest red-eyed Californian around. (He came with the name and I loved it too much to change it)

I lost my first bun Pipkin last summer and decided I was finally ready to get a new friend in my life. I adopted Cheese from a shelter in Chicago called One Tail at a Time (I definitely recommend them if you are in the area! They take such good care of their animals). I found him via Petfinder and instantly fell in love. He was brought to the shelter in poor coat condition they assumed from living in an outdoor environment. He went through FOUR foster homes!

He is turning one sometime this July, and was 6lbs 12oz at his first vet checkup with me. The shelter described him as a "border collie bunny" because he is always excited to meet new people, runs up to his gate, and tries to climb up to greet you. He also loves cats and dogs that are nice in return and has SO much energy! I let him out of his playpen and he will binky all around the room jumping off and on my bed, and once he tires himself out he lays either at the foot of my bed or right next to me 🥰 He is a big fan of head and cheek rubs, and I am still in the process of getting him more comfortable with handling. I've slowly been introducing new steps and so far I am able to scoop under his belly/arms and lift up as long as he still has his feet on the ground. Slowly but surely we will get there!

He is adorable! Sure sounds like the perfect bunfriend to have!

So cute, update us on his handling I’m sure he will love it once he gets used to it 🥰

I definitely will! I am stuck in the in between of wanting to make sure he feels safe and comfortable in his new home while also knowing practice makes perfect. Just trying to take it slow while also keeping up with it. I appreciate any suggestions as well!

A warm welcome to both of you also from me ❤ Oh, he´s so cute!!!!

Excuse me if I get too detailed, I am always so overly excited to talk about him 🥰

Please don´t worry to much about that. :) As for me I´ve seldom experienced a more loving and caring online community like this one . We´re all in here to do life together (whether we walk or prefer to jump around) and to show the world how ABSOLUTELY AMAZING a happy Bonnie Life can be

He is so handsome! He looks just like my girl Janis Hoplin aka Fluffer nutter aka babygirl. I raised her along side her mom from a kit. She has the sweetest disposition unless she’s in heat and then she can be a little grumpy but who can blame her, LoL! I’m working on getting her spayed. I got her mom and dad from my Aunt who raises rabbits, thankfully they have different parents because we thought they were both girls…SURPRISE! I was able to find good homes for all of the babies but Janis and I bonded from the beginning. Both mom and dad are fixed now so I won’t have anymore surprises, LoL.

OMG. I laughed so hard at that name! Both adorable californians with adorable names! She totally looks like Dr. Cheese 😁 . That is such an amazing story! It sounds like a happy ending for everyone :). I don't blame her for her grumpiness in heat 😂 us females gotta stick together. Do you have the parents and Janis as well?

I know right the minute I found out she was a girl her name was decided, I’m a huge Janis fan. When I was younger I was a goof ball and walk around saying “ I like cheese”, HaHa!! So I think our twinsies are fate because I really do love cheese 😂.

Yes I still have mom and dad they will forever be my first loves. He was so upset when I had to separate them because of the babies, he went into a depression for a little bit. They are definitely a bonded pair since they’ve been together since they were both little. I call them husbun and wife, LoL. All three live harmoniously together. The picture I’m adding is Reese…mom(she’s the dark one), Janis in the middle, and Jude…dad(white with dark nose and ears).

I can clearly see that Dr. Cheese is quite happy. Such an adorable doctor of the cheese. The way he's laying reminds me of how Xiao Wu lays. So adorable!!

Flaming and death? How so?

They tend to be very judgey in an in-your-face kind of way (flaming), and there's lots of talk about how everything you do that's not in line with their ideals will be the death of your rabbit.

Experiences may vary. They are a great wealth of information, and I love what they're doing, I just don't like the forums!

reply for 2 above--some here are jackasses and respond with innappropriate comments to posts--I was criticized for the number of Rainbow Bridge postings we have--however, we've been rescuing for more than 2 decades and our rescue number excedes 54,so we naturally have more than a few passing--a lot of people here slammed the donkey for the comment before I could do anything and admin removed them. As in life, some will mistake what you have said, and some will vent their spleen and bias at you--they don't get well received or last here very long. Over the last 15 years I've mostly enjoyed this forum and felt it to be mostly helpful. And I do commemorate each of our fur babies bridge entry every year and will for as long as I'm able.
