Well Luca and I went to our 1st ever match day Yesterday (Our Golden Retriever Clb vsing the Labrador Club ).

People ended up insisting we join lol so after a short run through of what I was suppose to do... we entered the Novice category and came second :D. YAY!

This may not sound special to any one but, I have never entered in a show before (not even junior handling) actually haven't even been to a show b4!

And then when GRT judging finished the judge unexpectedly called number 15 (me) to the ring and gave me a 1st prize award for Judge's special award i guess you can call it. :)

The Goldies won 6th year running against the labbies btw!

So Luca and I came home with 2 ribbons, 2nd and 1st. I'm so proud of my boy.

Congratulations! Luca is such a gorgeous boy, he has the kindest eyes. I'd love to have a doggie like him one day.

I'm not surprised in the least. That Luca Boy is a showstopper!
Very cool that you got to be in a show! I've never gotten to be in an animal show before... You look very professional, trotting him around the ring.
1st and a 2nd on the first attempt... none too shabby, Prisca! ;)

Very cool!
Congratulations! :)

Dog shows look like so much fun! :) I agree; 1st & 2nd place at the first show is great! Are you going to take Luca to more shows?

I just love Golden Retrievers, btw. Such adorable dogs! :) I'm going to own one, one day! :p

Hey all,

Thanks so much for the awesomest replies!
Luca is a nuetured boy so will only participate in match days etc.

I still can't believe what we got placed :)

This is starting to get me hooked haha, maybe next time I get a dog/puppy I might try get a NZKC Registered dog with papers... but I feel strongly in de-sexing my dog so, haha barrier there.

Do you have any local dog 4-H clubs over there? Might be fun to try and join and then you can learn more and also show at 4-H shows! ;) :)

Thank you Autumn, he sure is something special! Especially for a newbie (both him and me hahaha) Good thing he's a mommy's boy. He got this comment the most "he's spoiled rotten!" haha is that such a bad thing?

Nope what the flickaty heck is a 4-H lol...
there are clubs like toy dog club, gundog club, lure coursing club, GRC club, Lab club etc etc.. is that what u mean lol..

Hmmm..I can't recall if New Zealand has 4-H clubs, but I will pull some things up and see what I can find! If I do remember correctly, I was sure that NZ did have 4-H! :p

Anyway, 4-H is quite different than country/national dog clubs, etc. It's just for kids ;)
