We adopted such a sweet little girl who was only 4 months old , she had been in a fight with other rabbits at a pet store and had sadly lost part of one of her ears so didn’t think twice about giving her a forever home.
She was a very sweet girl , though nervous and a little boisterous and showed some territory aggression , she was also a notorious chewer eating through most of the wood in her cage , however she loved a fuss so long as you didn’t pick her up as well as nose kisses and was the queen of binkies.
I’m really going to miss her little face greeting me and her little nose kisses.
I’m struggling to understand what caused her to pass so suddenly .
I noticed she was quiet yesterday evening , seemed a little hunched and not as interested in her surroundings as usual (she’s usually very curious and nosey ) , i tried giving her some food as that usually gets her really excited and she was complete unbothered , which started to concern me , she seemed subdued and looked poorly .
I tried picking her up to check on her expecting her to launch herself out of my arms as she usually would do if you try picking her up but she didn’t , i noticed her pupils were very large , she also looked as though she was going into shock .
I placed her back in her cage and it seemed she was struggling to balance and she lost movement from her back legs this then proceeded to her having fits and convulsions so i called the vets they asked me to bring her in but she sadly didn’t make the journey .
I can’t quite process what caused this to happen , i did suspect stasis from her constantly chewing her cage but i don’t know , it’s possible she could have had an underlying problem but the vets who treated her at the pet store said other than the damage to her ear she was healthy .
Any advice would be appreciated , i feel heart broken that her life was cut short so suddenly , she had only been with us for just over a month

So sorry for your sudden loss. It just happens sometimes with little or no warning--rabbits are too good at hiding problems. We've had 3 out of 60 that went with no warning--one we know of was from an enlarged heart, but they were fine in the morning and gone that afternoon. Rest in peace little one, you are loved and missed.

Thank you so much for your reply , so sorry to hear you lost 3 suddenly.
I just feel so sad for her that she didn’t get to live the life i had hoped for her after coming from such a traumatic background.
She was only just becoming more trusting and beginning to bond with us.

I am very sorry. It can break your heart. I am glad you were with her.

I’m so so sorry for your loss. I have got rabbits for the first time, after have dogs as pets all of my life and I didn’t realise what huge personalities they have and how fun they are. My vet told me that that there can be a million reasons why and that they are quite delicate little buttons.

You could and should try to add another rescue to your family. We have rescued more than 60 over the years--some we re-homed (if you could pass my exams!) and others were with us their entire life, some long and some way too short, but we loved them all, and some were really characters-most people have no idea just how complex a bunny can be. Our specialty was taking on problem rabbits that other people could not handle--biters mostly and I mean they drew blood, not just a nip. Usually took about 2 days to make model citizens out of them and turn them into loving, attention seeking little furballs. 2 of our last 3 rescues came from "Death Row" as they were going to be put down for bad behavior at 2 different shelters in California and 1 from here was another very young little guy that was abandoned by some ***** as he is such a sweet, loving little guy. Again, so very sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss, bluebelle was an adorable bunny. Thank you for giving her a good one month of her life ❤️

I’m so sorry for your loss! I’m crying as I read this…I can’t imagine the loss of my bunny, Minx! I lost my husband 14 months ago and she’s been my therapy bunny and I just love her. We do movies every night and I get to hold and cuddle and pet her for two hours!
We like hallmark movies!
My heart goes out to you ❤️💕♥️🐇🐇
