Lost my job today

Hi all,

I guess it wasn't a complete and total surprise...

They hired this big shot for the position of Managing Partner, Northern Region beginning Nov. 1 (he's above my boss). He's been making changes-the office hours, how we're to answer the front desk phone (talk about a mouthful, people comment and laugh after you say it:?), we find out this morning that the manager of two other offices was let go,then me and another girl get cut (we were the last ones hired).

He comes over to where I work and said "Crystal, got a minute?" followed him to a conference room where another lady was already there:?:shock:, I immediately started shaking with nervousness, eck. Numbers are down, business is slow, he's doing his job.

He came over to where I am after and said I could leave for the day at that point to "get myself together" even though I wasn't crying or anything, just shaky. (I guess he understands how itfeels:?.)

They are offering us severance and we have a separation form to sign if we want the severance. Must find out if there is a stipulation in it if I do sign and if they can get out of giving me unemployment, if so, I won't take it:grumpy:.

Guess I will have more time to be on here for awhile. Just wanted to let you all know, I'm jobless now and venting a bit. It sucks, I loved it there. The people are so nice and great atmosphere.

I am working until Friday though:?. Maybe I should purposely screw some things up before I leave.

Wish me well in finding another job here in the distant future. (Believe me, I will take the unemployment for awhile, heh heh.)

Oh gosh! I'm so sorry! I've been there and it is nasty!

At least it's not a nasty kind of thing. I've seen managers like that come in and zooom through firing people.

Can't say I wouldn't be tempted to mess something up before I left, too...hehe!

And I betcha it really is their loss. Theguy probably hated having to do it by seniority, you're such a good worker and a nice person.

(You probably think the office is nice because you're so nice and they'rejust reacting to you -- although you'll always find curmudgeonswith no excuse).

How long did you work there for?

I don't think you'll have trouble finding another job, but hey.... take your time. (You do want just the right one, and there ARE unemployment benefits).

Sas, I was there 2 years in another month.

Um, actually, they're so much nicer than I:shock:. But, yeah, I even helped peeps with their puter issues (if they were small ones). They have an IT guy, but when he wasn't there, I'd help people. You wouldn't believe how unknowing people are with computers:shock:. Just Friday, there are 4 computers in the "work room" for the agents to use, I happened to be in there and a new agent says "That computer doesn't have any icons." Well, let's see-control, alt, delete, task manager, restart. Wholla!:? They don't even think that far, a few of the agents are pre-madonna's and are lazy to boot:shock:.

Thanks Rosie, I hope I do too, but if I get unemployment, I will not be in any hurry:biggrin2:. Oh! I plan to screw a couple things up, royally.(Oops, did I just say that?)
