Hello!

I know there is a post on here about someone's rabbit sneezing already, but mine is much different from the other post, so I thought I would start one for myself. Hope thats okay.

My Bandit has been sneezing, but they're tiny sneezes and it's not constant just every once in a while. He is in a new NIC cage I built him, but nothing is in it out of the ordinary that wasn't in his pen before (pen was attached to his cage)

I'm using the same Litter and Hay that I've been using since I got him (1 month ago yesterday :))
Other then the sneezing he seems perfectly fine, he's eating normal and everything.

I am definately a worry wort and just need to know if this is okay that he sneezes every once in a while hehehe

What is he doing when he's sneezing?

Has he got his face in his hay or food dish?

He may have dust allergies or something may just be tickling his nose.

Just monitor it. If it gets worse or he starts getting a discharge, then take him to the vets. Otherwise, try to observe and find out what's tickling his nose.

Normally when he sneezes he's not in his litter he's just sitting around in his cage. Although sometimes it'll be when he's in his litter, but I notice he does it more when he's not. He doesn't have any discharge or anything. I think he may just have allergies to something, or something is bothering his poor little nose?!

You can try shaking his hay out a bit. Sifting the dust out of the food is also a good idea.

Does he drink from a bowl or bottle? Basil will only drink from a bowl, and he sneezes sometimes after he drinks if he gets some water in his nose.

Alright I'll try shaking his hay out.Cuz I noticed that can be dusty at times. Bandit drinks from a Bottle.

Sorry if I'm over reacting, I'm a new Bunny Mommy. Just want to make sure he's okay. :)

I know just how you feel. Its great to be aware of every little thing, even if it does make you seem like an overprotective mommy.

I would just keep an eye on him for now. Watch for discharge. He could just have a little bit of allergies, its also possible that he got a little piece of something stuck in there thats irritating him.

Keep us posted!

Drizzle sneezes every so often for a while from allergies. He sneezed when he got his new NIC condo as well. I think it was because the floor was dusty. Is the NIC condo on carpet or tile? Drizzle doesn't sneeze as much since I moved him to the tile. Also, do you use anything w/ fragrance on the carpet/tile? I used to use a pet carpet deallergen powder on the carpet that you vaccuum up, but Drizzle was allergic to it :disgust:. I bought one of thesehttp://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-2/qid=1164642531/ref=sr_1_2/601-0424820-6855312?ie=UTF8&asin=B000063D6Fand plugged it into an outlet right by his condo. I turn it on once a day to clean the air and he hasn't really sneezed much since. Just make sure to vaccuum, mop, etc in and around the cage.

As long as there is no discharge from your bun's nose, it should clear up. Just watch him and listen to his breathing on occasion to see if it sounds labored.

Well he is in a new NIC condo and he is on carpet until I get him a floor. Today I was just listening to him and his nose was a little whistley. It stopped now, but I haven't heard him sneeze too much. It might just be dusty. I'll get him a floor ASAP and definately look in to an air purifier, that would probably help out a lot!

Drizzle's nose sounds whistley like that on occasion as well.

The air purifierI gave the link to is nice because it just plugs into the wall. It has 2 cleaning settings.I move it from room the dining room to the living room when he runs around. It does seem to help out.

Like Haley's NIC condos, the coroplast sheetworks as a great floor. You can get them at sign shops. They sell them 4'x8' sheets. They're relatively inexpensive; about $8 USD per sheet.

Yes I will definately look around for one of those air purifiers around here. I'm sure I can find one somewhere. And I will look for somewhere where I can get a sheet of coroplast. I'm In Ontario, Canada. I'm sure I can get that somewhere, I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open!

Thanks

If you call a sign shop in your area, they should have some. My uncle owns one and that's where I'm getting mine from.

Beau (who had 5 teeth pulled in the last several months) was on antibiotics for months before and after. He was off the Cipro for a few days and I noticed small tiny intermittent sneezes. I took him to the vet and she talked to the dentist and they feel that because of so much previous infection in his mouth that he may need to be on antibiotics often. The sneezing stoppped after a few doses of antibiotics. I am just saying that it could be allergies or something else..but I would say if it changes in any way or worsens in any way to take him to a vet just in case.

My mini rex sneezes when she's grooming, sometimes she sneezes five or six times in a rapid succession, but only when cleaning-those fine hairs.

My holland lop sneezes too once in a while, but I'm not sure if he's cleaning when he does it cuz when I look over, he's just sitting there.
