Also depends on the tree the leaves are coming from. The leaves I've fed mine are apple, willow, raspberry, bramble, cottonwood. Apple and willow seem to be the favorite. But yes, they also need to be untreated by pesticides anytime recently(though never is preferable), and preferably not by a roadway.
