I've been up with Jordan, heflunked his treat test, his dinner test and every other test last night. :sigh:

I don't know what it is. Thought it was gas, but no gurgling, and while he seems to be in pain, he's not doing the usually gassy bun tummy-to-the-ground thing, nor is he acting like a meatloaf.

I'd suspect stasis, but when I picked him up, he looked like he was just passing a little pooty, and it looked perfectly normal. (Although it is possibe he just sat on somebody else's and it ended up well placed).

I'm very tired. I can't find the Simethicone. I syringed him a little water, gave him a long tummy rub.Don't think it did much. At least he's grooming himself. (I have him in a cage in my room, and of course Pipp is going nuts).Hoping to see him pee and poop, but dont' think I can stay awake. I'll have to get some sleep in case a vet visit is in order first thing. (And 'first thing' is in a very few hours).

He's only a year or so old, and I think three of his sibblings have died from liver and/or cancer issues. :nerves1

sas :huh

Oh no...I hope he's okay... :hearts

Jordan had two sisters that both died of cancer, one of kidney cancer and one of liver cancer.

Do you need me to bring you anything? Today I don't have a car as Ryan is at school in Abbotsford, but I can stop on my way to Costco with a friend. We're having an alumni night tonight, and I have to be there to serve alcohol (I'm the only one licensed to do it).

Poor guy. It seems that the friendliest ones are the ones getting sick :(

I honestly didn't think it was stasis or gas, I thought his gut sounds were normal, which is why I took him in rather than try the home regiment, and I was probably right. The vet has found two lumps in his abdomen, he figures they could either be bladder stones or something protruding from the liver. :(

Dr. Brondwinwants Dr. Martinezto take a look, they're trying to determine if the lumps are hard like calcium or softer like tissue. Dr. Brondwinis inclined just to open him up and take a look, and if it's not fixable, just let him go. Dr. Martinez prefers xrays, and a very good idea before doing anything, so they'll have to duke it out.

It's complicated by the fact Jordan isa SARS foster andthere isn'tmuch of a budget to do anything.I was feeling a bit unwell from the bus ride, I wasn't thinking, Ishouldhave brought him home and done the Critcal Care thing myselfand brought him back in the morning, but I left him there seeing as it was only going to be a matter of hours.

They were booked up today so I just went in,sat and waited for a break in the action, theycouldn't see him until close to closing, and they open again at 8 AM, so I didn't think it was worth stressing him with three extra trips. Brondwin gave me that option, but I didn't put it together with the charges. Really stupid of me. :(

(It didn't help that sick bunnies trigger psychotic episodes in Bunny George, the homeless schitzophreniccamped on my couch, so he had a senseless fit about me abandoning Jordan, yada yada yada...)

Dr. Brondwin said a few times that with fostersit might just be best budget-wise to put him to sleep, but Jordan was being such a little doll -- he was cuddling up to me as close as he could get, and was scared but so calm, he thought that would be such a shame.

Here's hoping it's fixable, but given this family's history... :nerves1 And if it is cancer or something like that, this also calls into question the adoptability ofLisa and Peaches.:(

I'm very sad, Jordan's such a sweet little bunny. As Dawn said, thelosses in thislitter seem to be geared from thefriendliest on down.

Wish the little guy luck.:clover:

sas :cry4:

Aww...I hope things turn out better than they sound...:(

PS: Dr. Brondwin said if Jordan had been an unfixed girl, he would have sworn he was feeling babies. I'm going to have to re-check my anatomy drawings.

He didn't think the bladder felt enlarged, so he didn't think it could be stones in the urethra, although he kept thinking it could be something in the kidneys -- which I found a bit disconcerting seeing as I thoughtthe kidneys are pretty far north of the area in question, but what do I know.

If anybody has had any experiences with anything similar, please do tell.

Oh no Sas..i'm sorry to hear about Jordan....oh geez poor little guy....i am so hoping that it's not cancer, please let it be something treatable

keeping you guys in my thoughts

Update: Jordan's still at the vet's, he's eating and pooping, just not enough to bring him home. And they don't know what's wrong with him. The other vet can't feel the lumps, so maybe they were poops (which makes me wonder about the first vet, who treats TONS of rabbits). He's a SARS bunny and thus a charity case, so I guess no xrays, blood panels, etc. at this point.

But now Peaches is sick, same symptoms, and I'm feeling a small lump in her abdomen. Have to check the diagram, but I think it's intestinal, so maybea poop? She may have gas, no loud gut sounds, but she does have gut sounds.

Not sure when she last pooped, cleaning the cage now, they mostlylook pretty normal, a few small ones, but Idon't think they'rethe fosters',the little guys, Dill and Sherry, tend to kick poops in their cage ground level and poop on the arm of the couch and kick 'em in from there.

:sofa: :nonono: :vacuum:

With two of them sick a day apart I'm wondering about diet -- a veggie that was off? A spot of something in the hay? I'm pretty sure George was sneaking them pellets, maybe bread (I found Dill munching on a piece yesterday, don't know where he got it). But I'm just not sure that would cause a problem without changing their poops.

Anyway, got a big bottle of unflavoured Pedialyte -- which is great, because it's hard to find and this was onsale (Vancouverites, it's at Shoppers Drug Mart, probably the whole chain, so grab some by tomorrow, the bottle will be good for a couple of years unopened, and if it is opened, you can freezeleftovers).

Back to cage cleaning.

sas :sigh:

Added note: I just checked all the anatomy info in the Library (and if nobody's noticed, there's a TON of it, but a lot of it is pretty graphic, not for the weak-kneed), and as I suspected, the liver is nowhere near the bladder. I couldn't remember if it was the kidneys or liver, but I knew one was way up in the thorax, and yup, it's the liver. And the kidneys are none-too-close, either.

The lump I'm feeling is probably in the colon, so a poop makes sense. Now I'm really wonderingabout my vet. :?

I am worried that Peaches seems to have touch sensitivity in her tummy, although it could just be she's not used to massages. So tough to figure out what to do. :( (Still haven't found my Simethicone).

Pipp, don't forget that sometimes, there is a discrepancy between palpation and an anatomical drawing. It takes some experience to really be good at.

Poor Jordan! How is Peaches doing this evening?

I wonder if George could have given them something not bunny tummy friendly.

What are they doing with Jordan that he cant come home?

I'll be keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

Ivory, I didn't go by drawings, I went by the anatomy data linked in the Library, which (sorry to say) are dissections. :(

Peaches is good, she recovered pretty quickly, however Jordan is back in the hospital, although I'm not sure that they're treating him. He's a charity case, SARS has to approve treatment, I think they want him at their other vet's office where they get a better deal.

I'm not sure I want to leave him at vet #1 all weekend or treat him at home, waiting for a call right now. (It's getting late!)

He has a wet bottom, and he's straining. He also has loud gut sounds and maybe even some respiratorynoise. I don't know if it's gas or a UTI or what, but I want them to at least give him subqs and antibiotics to eliminate the UTI part, but not sure ifthey're doing that. The gut sounds could be because he hasn't eaten.

He's pretty thin. :(

Gotta go phone I guess, more later.
