I'm supposed to give 20cc's of Critical Care three times perday. Do you realize how much that is?

It's a little over4 teaspoons3 x per dayas compared to a pea-sized portion of Nutrical.

I have a hard enough time trying to get 2 tsp. ofmedicineinto a reluctant kid, let alone 4 tsp.intoa reluctant rabbit!

Did you call Dr. Gary? Joey might be ready to decease his dose of Critical Care.

Don't worry about giving too much Critical, aslong as there is something moving through the system. As hestarts eating other foods start cutting back. Also don't stopthe meds suddenly, that can cause the system to get a shack and go backinto stasis. Cut back over a few days until you stop themcompletely.

Joey is acting fine and eating greens withenthusiasm..I have been giving him meds and syringing food allday....he is not pooping at all.!He pooped better yesterday when I juststarted all this. I think that I am stressing him out big time...it ishard to keep forcing things in when nothing is coming out but hedoesn't seem uncomfortable and is not hunched but lying sprawled out. This is really going to affect Christmas as I can't concentrate onsending out cards or anything. I just HATE stasis.

I know they can intervene surgically...but from what I understand its pretty risky....

Thankfully I've not had to deal with this very issue as of yet...butfrom what I've learned it can take time. I know if he's eating andthings, they vet can give something to hopefully help him poop, Gypsyhad an issue very similar to this recently...

If you haven't seen it, you can read about it here.

It's so risky that it is best not to attempt. Most rabbits don't survive the surgery.

The heck with the Christmas cards and that whole thing. You were dealing with the life of your rabbit.

As they say, "Don't sweat the small stuff."

 for Joey.

What happens if the blockage won't move? I never had to dothis much to get a rabbit to poop normally and I have had rabbits for10 yrs.

Have they been hydrating him with IV fluids? Fluids help tosoften the stools and they pass better. I had to IV hydrateMr Z everyday for a week.

It isn't a quick fix, Angie. You're doing fine. It takes time for it to come back.

Hang in there. You and Joey are doing great.

My goodness .. Shame on me for not seeing this/responding sooner...my sincerest apologies!

Very awesome to hear Joey is putting out some poops ..means that even if slow his system is moving along....good stuff! :)

Dont you even stress yourself out about the Christmas cards! Somebunnyis sick and a life regardless of the species is more important anyday, than a card!

I will keep you both in my prayers and I hoping for more and more poops and his speedy recovery!!!!
